Surge, a startup owned by Hero Motocorp, has revealed the S32, a batmobile-like electric vehicle (EV) that seamlessly transitions from a three-wheeler to a two-wheeler in just 3 minutes. This innovation provides both individual owners and businesses the flexibility to switch between an electric rickshaw and a two-wheeler within the same vehicle. 

The modular design allows for a seamless transition with just the push of a button. When the operator activates the button, the windshield opens vertically, unveiling the two-wheeler within the cabin. Subsequently, the two-wheeler smoothly emerges using what appears to be a spring mechanism.

What’s The Purpose Of S32? 

The Surge S32 is crafted to provide businesses, and notably individual owners, a dual-purpose solution – serving as both a two-wheeler and a three-wheeler. This design caters to their haulage needs while also offering the convenience of utilising the two-wheeler for last-mile mobility and personal transportation. 

What’s Under The Hood? 

The Surge S32 integrates intelligent powertrains, divided between its two and three-wheeler configurations. The three-wheeler version offers a 13.4 hp (10 kW) electric powertrain paired with an 11 kWh battery pack designed for sustainability while the scooter version is fitted with a 4 hp (3 kW) electric powertrain with a 3.5 kWh battery pack for a higher range. 

Further, these powertrain configurations enable the Surge S32 in its three-wheeler form to attain a top speed of 50 kmph, while the two-wheeler configuration delivers a slightly higher top speed of 60 kmph. Surge also asserts that the three-wheeler form can carry approximately 500 kg payload for higher profitability.
