Tresa Motors Reveals V0.1: A Cool-Looking, Futuristic Electric Truck with Tesla Vibes

Modified On Jul 03, 2023 08:06 PMBy Dheeraj Nair

Bengaluru-based Tresa Motors has revealed a futuristic electric truck designed for the global market. Here’s what we know so far about this impressive looking machine.

India’s Tresa Motors has revealed its first electric truck called the Model V0.1, and we can’t help but notice its uncanny resemblance to the Tesla Cybertruck, but in a much bigger form factor.

Built on Tresa Motors’ groundbreaking Axial Flux motor platform, FLUX350, this futuristic-looking truck’s development is said to have involved extensive simulations over several months. The Tresa truck with its Axial Flux motor technology claims to deliver a staggering 469.3hp of continuous power.

According to the brand, Axial Flux motors are renowned for their compact size and lightweight nature. Developed entirely in India, Tresa Motors prides itself in being among the few manufacturers in the world to make and utilise Axial Flux Motors.

Tresa Motors has also conducted several months of intensive simulations in analysis systems (ANSYS) and matrix laboratory (MATLAB) to fine-tune the vehicle, considering hundreds of parameters, before entering the manufacturing process.

However, the Tresa Model V0.1 is yet to be launched for the global markets. As per our understanding and communication with the PR, the vehicle will be launched only at a later stage. As of now, Model V0.1 was just revealed and there is no specific launch date. Further, details of the specifications are also yet to be revealed by the brand.

What Is ANSYS And MATLAB?

Generally, ANSYS is used to simulate computer models of structures, electronics and machine components for analysing the strength, elasticity, temperature distribution and other attributes necessary for the optimal operation of the product.

Meanwhile, MATLAB is a programming and numeric computing platform designed specifically for engineers to analyse and design systems and products for optimal performance.

As per the brand, it has conducted both ANSYS And MATLAB to produce an optimal performance-oriented product.

Tresa Motors Comments:

Rohan Shravan, Founder and CEO of Tresa Motors, said, “The journey to the official reveal of Tresa's Model V0.1 and the development of our Axial Flux motor platform has been nothing short of extraordinary.”

“Since our inception, we have overcome a lot of challenges. Today, I am happy to say that I have the backing of some of the industry's most revered and experienced people who have joined Tresa's team to accelerate its journey.

All in all, the team at Tresa has made and manufactured more than 200 different kinds of trucks in their careers (in India, Germany, the US, and Japan), and have sold a staggering 2 million plus units in the past,” he added.

Best Electric Truck In India:

Looking at the V0.1’s styling, we have to admit that there is nothing quite like it in the Indian market just yet. In fact, Tata Motors is the only manufacturer that sells an electric four-wheeled commercial truck in India called the Ace EV. While the Tata Ace is a capable workhorse meant for hauling goods up to 600kg, and is more modest and conventional looking, the Tresa V0.1 is a large truck that appears straight out of a sci-fi movie.

As for specifications, the Tata Ace features a 21.3kWh lithium-ion iron phosphate (LFP) battery and an AC induction motor which generates 36.2hp and 130Nm. The vehicle also offers a certified driving range of 154km/full charge and a gradability rating of 22 percent.

In terms of charging abilities, the truck takes around 6-7 hours to charge from 20 percent to 100 percent in regular charging mode and around 1.75 hours to charge from 10 percent to 80 percent in fast charging mode.

Furthermore, the Tata Ace EV is available for purchase in India at a starting price of Rs. 9.21 lakh (ex-showroom).

Upcoming Electric Trucks In India:

While Tata Motors has successfully launched the Tata Ace EV which is a hit in the Indian market, automakers such as Ashok Leyland are working on the development of electric trucks based on the Dost range which could potentially contend with the likes of the Tata Ace EV.

Other automakers working on the development of electric four-wheeled trucks in India are believed to be Omega Seiki Mobility (OSM), Olectra Greentech (OGL) and Jupiter Electric Mobility (JEM), among others.
