The Tata Intra V50 is powered by a 1.5-litre 4-cylinder BS6-compliant diesel engine producing 79hp at 4000rpm and 220Nm at around 1750-2500rpm. This engine is paired with a G5220 model 5-speed manual transmission.

The Tata SCV is also fitted with parabolic leaf spring suspension in the front for stability and ride comfort while the rear is equipped with semi-elliptical leaf spring suspension for better load-carrying capacity.

A parabolic leaf spring is made up of fewer leaves and the ends are tapered for better rigidity and lighter unsprung weight. Meanwhile, semi-elliptical leaf springs comprise a composite spring whose spring rate increases dramatically as the load on the spring is increased. It usually looks like the bow of a bow and arrow.
