710 LPT Latest Update
Tata Motors 710 LPT is a long-platform truck suitable for urban and semi-urban haulage operations. Featuring a Bharath Stage VI Phase 2, 4-cylinder diesel engine capable of generating decent torque output to haul heavy loads, the 710 LPT is an ideal choice for last-mile delivery and long lead applications.
Constructed on heavy-duty chassis with two load body variants – Cab and HSD (high side deck) the 710 LPT is suitable for the transportation of construction materials, parcels and couriers, pharmaceutical products, fruits and vegetables, LPG cylinders and electronic products, among others.
Equipped with robust powertrain and drivetrain aggregates such as 280 mm dia single plate dry friction type clutch, G400 model gearbox, Banjo-type rear axle, serrated coupling flange propeller shaft, and e-viscous fan, the 710 LPT is crafted for high torque generation and efficiency.
Single plate dry friction type clutch system consists of a single friction plate that is operated dry, meaning it does not require any lubrication. When the clutch pedal is pressed, the pressure plate releases the friction plate, allowing for gear changes. Tata Motors asserts that this clutch system offers lower maintenance requirements and improves durability.
Meanwhile, an e-viscous fan or an electronically controlled viscous fan is a cooling system component used in trucks. Electronic control unit (ECU) of the vehicle adjusts the fan's speed, to keep the engine cool, based on the engine temperature. It is efficient and durable since it is not operated by belts like traditional mechanical cooling fan systems.
Available at a starting price of Rs 15.12 lakh which goes up to Rs 15.64 lakh (ex-showroom), the Tata 710 LPT is a comprehensive and value-for-money light commercial vehicle.
Tata 710 LPT Performance
The Tata 710 LPT is powered by a 4-cylinder inline water-cooled direct Injection diesel engine with an intercooler. This engine is engineered to produce 98.632 hp at 2800 rpm and 360 Nm at around 1000-1200 rpm. This 2956 cc diesel engine is mated to a G400 5-speed manual cable-shift type gearbox.
A manual cable shift type gearbox consists of a gear shift lever to which steel cables are attached to mechanically engage the gear. This setup allows the driver to manually select gears by moving the gear lever, which then actuates the gear changes in the transmission. This type of transmission is considered easy to maintain and effective in terms of durability.
Further, the Tata 710 LPT truck is outfitted with a parabolic leaf spring with rubber bush and hydraulic double-acting telescopic shock absorbers in the front and semi-elliptical leaf springs with auxiliary springs in the rear.
A parabolic leaf spring suspension is a type of suspension system used in trucks and other heavy vehicles. It consists of a single-leaf spring that is thicker in the centre and tapered towards the ends. Meanwhile, semi-elliptical leaf springs consist of one or more layers of thick and curved spring steel plates.

Tata 710 LPT - Expert Review
Overview
In an effort to enhance the fleet operation of logistics that look forward to improving turnaround times and reducing downtime periods, commercial vehicle manufacturers are focused on offering light-duty trucks incorporating robust powertrains. Tata Motors stands out among such manufacturers offering its top-notch 710 LPT light-duty truck.
As for the 710 LPT truck, Tata Motors asserts that it is an exemplar of the brand’s commitment to offering trucks designed to improve fleet efficiency of logistics seeking profitability and growth. Featuring a Bharath Stage VI Phase 2, 4-cylinder diesel engine, Tata Motors claims it to be an efficient truck suitable for improving fleet operations.
Moreover, incorporating a dual circuit full air S-cam braking system, with an auto slack adjuster, the 710 LPT is suitable for carrying heavy loads such as clinker and other construction aggregates, without compromising safety.
S-Cam air brakes, also known as camshaft-operated air brakes are commonly used on heavy-duty trucks. The name S-Cam comes from the shape of the camshaft in the system. This camshaft has a sturdy lobe (the "cam"). The lobe ensures even braking force by pushing against brake shoes, ensuring efficient brake performance.
Meanwhile, auto slack adjusters are a type of braking system used in trucks to automatically adjust the clearance, or "slack," between the brake shoes and the brake drum. This ensures effective and optimal braking performance by reducing wear.
Available in Cab and HSD (high side deck) variants, the 710 LPT is crafted to suit the various business requirements of logistics that look forward to plying the truck for multiple heavy-duty applications. Hence, the 710 LPT is an ideal solution for businesses seeking high revenue generation.
Exterior
The 710 LPT boasts cosmetic elements that resemble the 712 LPT, more precisely, the LPT range of trucks that look robust. It features box-shaped headlights that have good through at night, a stylish and practical grey-coloured front grill designed for aerodynamic efficiency and a black modular bumper suitable for fitting auxiliary lights.
Moreover, equipped with a day cabin configuration and wider tyres with robust sidewalls – offering a more muscular stance, the 712 LPT can appeal to customers who look forward to resonating with their vehicles as their identity. All-in-all, these design elements make it visually appealing from every angle.
Interior
The Tata 710 LPT is designed with driver performance and comfort in mind, enhancing fleet performance. Its cabin boasts value-added features like a tilt and telescopic steering system, catering to various customer preferences and driving styles.
Additionally, the vehicle is equipped with comfortable Melba fabric seats suitable for summer and winter driving conditions, a music system with high-quality Blaupunkt speakers and high-speed USB smartphone charging ports, for added convenience.
Performance
The Tata 710 LPT is propelled by a 4-cylinder inline water-cooled direct Injection diesel engine with an intercooler. This engine is capable of generating 98.632 hp at 2800 rpm and 360 Nm at around 1000-1200 rpm. This 2956 cc diesel engine is paired to a G400 5-speed manual cable-shift type gearbox.
Furthermore, the engine and gearbox are paired with a low hysteresis 280 mm dia, single plate dry friction type clutch system. This system consists of a single friction plate that is operated dry, meaning it does not require any lubrication. This type of clutch is common in commercial vehicles for its durability and ease of maintenance.
Safety
The Tata 710 LPT is constructed on a high-strength chassis capable of withstanding the stress of heavy loads and other environmental factors such as harsh weather conditions. It comes with a single-piece frame for engine mounting and 5 mm thickness longer members, ensuring safety.
Additionally, the vehicle comes equipped with an air braking system with a separate vacuum pump on the engine to improve the braking efficiency for higher safety and control. It even gets a serrated coupling flange propeller shaft for better reliability.
A serrated coupling flange propeller shaft consists of a series of serrations or grooves on the shaft and the mating surface. This ensures that the propeller shaft can deliver precise and efficient transfer of power to the wheels.
