The Tata 1112 LPT is powered by a 4 SPCR 4-cylinder in-line water-cooled direct injection  BS6-compliant diesel engine, capable of generating 99 hp and 300 Nm in light mode and 124 hp and 360 Nm in heavy mode. This efficient engine is mated to a G550, 5-speed manual transmission for higher efficiency and torque delivery. 

To enhance ride quality, comfort and load-carrying capacity, the vehicle features parabolic leaf springs and hydraulic double-acting telescopic shock absorbers in the front and a semi-elliptical leaf spring setup in the rear. For higher brake performance, the vehicle is outfitted with air brakes and an auto slack adjuster.
