Omega Seiki Joins Hands With Honda Power Pack Energy For Swappable Battery Tech

Omega Seiki Mobility recently inked a partnership with Honda Power Pack Energy India. Under this partnership, Honda Power Pack Energy will supply Omega Seiki with advanced swappable batteries for its electric vehicles (EVs) and establish a network of quick interchange stations in Tier 1 cities across India.

Both brands say that swappable battery technology not only reduces range anxiety experienced by EV users but also ensures near-instant recharging. Besides extending the lifespan of EV batteries, it offers an eco-friendly approach to mobility.

What Are Omega Seiki And Honda Power Pack Energy Saying?

Uday Narang, founder and chairman, Omega Seiki Mobility, said, “The swappable battery technology represents a paradigm shift, offering unparalleled efficiency and environmental advantages. In the next two years, we intend to implement Honda e:swap technology in over 10,000 vehicles in the passenger and cargo segments”.

Tomohide Haraguchi, vice president of technology and OEM development, Honda Power Pack Energy India, said, “The lithium-ion battery technology and know-how that Honda has cultivated over many years in the global 4-wheeler market were concentrated in the Honda Mobile Power Pack e:swap battery pack.”

“This safe and reliable lithium-ion battery pack offering will accelerate the growth of Omega Seiki Mobility's sales of innovative electric vehicles,” he added.

How Does This Partnership Impact The EV Space?

For starters, Omega Seiki Mobility's upcoming electric three-wheeler, expected to be available in both cargo and passenger segments, will be equipped with Honda Power Pack Energy India's (HEID) intelligent swappable batteries.

Apart from this, with the Honda e:swap service for OSM electric vehicles, autorickshaw drivers will be able to conveniently swap discharged batteries with fully charged ones at strategically located battery stations. These stations are currently located at select Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) petrol stations and metro stations. HEID intends to extensively expand its battery swap network, initially in Bengaluru and then to other Tier 1 cities.

Best Omega Seiki Mobility Three-Wheeler

Omega Seiki Mobility (OSM) has partnered with Honda Power Pack Energy India (HEID) to enhance the electric vehicle mobility space with an intelligent and high-utility swappable battery solution. However, that’s not the only buzz around OSM, as the company is also gaining popularity for offering best-in-class electric three-wheelers like the OSM Rage Plus. This development is one of OSM’s latest pushes towards improving the Indian cargo transportation sector.

The OSM Rage Plus is a high-speed electric three-wheeler with a 550kg payload capacity. As such, it falls under the L5N category, defined as any three-wheeler with a maximum speed exceeding 25kmph and motor power exceeding 0.25kW. 

The OSM Rage Plus is powered by a 10.8kWh battery pack paired with an electric motor, providing a driving range of 151km and a gradeability (slope climbing capacity at full load) of 16 percent. This makes the Rage Plus from OSM a useful electric three-wheeler for enhancing business fleet operations.
