VECV Reports Sales Growth of 43% in May

VECV has registered good growth last month, reporting a 43 percent increase in sales taking into consideration the sales numbers in May last year. A joint venture between Swedish company Volvo and domestic auto maker Eicher Motors, VECV has revealed that Eicher branded trucks have shown relatively good growth as compared to Volvo branded trucks.

VECV’s total sales numbers stood at 5,770 units in May 2016 as against 4,035 units in the same month last year. Eicher branded commercial vehicles witnessed a growth of 44.1 percent, reporting total sales of 5,709 units last month as compared to 3,962 units in the same period last year. Domestic sales of Eicher trucks and buses were up by 30.1 percent, recording 4,704 units in May 2016 against 3,617 units in May 2015. Export wise, commercial vehicles of the Eicher brand swelled three times more (1,005 units) last month, as compared to 345 units in the year-ago period.

However, sales of Volvo trucks dwindled by 16.43 percent at 61 units last month as compared to 73 units in May 2015.
