Volvo Trucks, the wholly owned subsidiary of Swedish auto giant AB Volvo and the second largest heavy duty truck manufacturer in the world, started its operation in India in the year 1998. Volvo has joint venture with Eicher Motors in India with the name Volvo Eicher Commercial Vehicles (VECV) through which it sells its trucks in India. The company besides providing sales and services via 3S dealerships, conducts a massive Driver Training program across the India in a bid to provide all-round solutions. The company has one of the most technologically advanced manufacturing facility in Pithampur, Madhya Pradesh which also supplies engines to Volvo Group in Europe. The Eicher Engineering Components, the automotive component division of VECV is one of the esteemed gear manufacturers in India exporting gearboxes to agricultural and industrial sectors in US and Canada. Volvo trucks are currently being supplied to South Asian markets.
