The Blazo X, Furio, Optimo and JAYO range of trucks are now equipped with BS6 powertrain. The company first showcase the range at Auto Expo 2020 in February.

India is under quarantine until May 3 and business activities will resume once the lockdown is lifted. Like the rest of the auto sector, truck makers are trying to utilize this time to work remotely.

Mahindra Trucks and Buses (MTB), the major full range CV brand in the domestic commercial vehicle industry has formally introduced its BS6 range not physically but digitally. Due to lockdown no new trucks are being manufactured nor the dealerships are open for sale.

Yet, companies are getting ready before the market opens. Every major truck maker was prepared to launch the BS6 range by April 1. The product prototype and testing already over, the BS6 production was taking place towards the fag end of March to get the truck ready for retail sales. At this point, the plants were shut-down due to an increased risk of COVID-19.

Indian automotive market is now BS6 compliant and the trucks running on the cleanest fuel in the world. To get ready for the retail sales, OEMs are now gearing up with their BS6 range of trucks. MTB truck range includes the heavy-duty Blazo X (28-55T GVW), intermediate commercial vehicles (ICV) Furio (11-14T GVW) and light commercial vehicles (LCV) the Optimo and JAYO (up to 7T GVW). All three brands have well established in the domestic market with a loyal customer base.

MTB has successfully demonstrated its technical and performance capabilities across its range. The three brands are equipped with MTB’s brand new BS6 powertrain with the promise of performance, comfort and safety.

Blazo X

The heavy-duty Blazo X comes in haulage, tipper and tractor-trailer applications from 28T to 55T GVW with all kinds of body, cabin and axle configuration options available for the customer. MTB’s promise of higher fuel guarantees across Blazo X range compared to its rival or taking the truck back has set the company apart in the market. The fuel mileage is the most critical aspect for fleet-operator or individual owner.

Fuel is the single biggest operating cost for the truck owner and hence a buying decision always depends on the truck mileage. Blazo X has well accepted by the customers as it offers fuel efficiency benefits and helped MTB to become a challenger brand in the fiercely competitive HCV truck segment.

Furio

The modern ICV range of trucks- the Furio is yet another important product segment from MTB. Design by Pininfarina to provide superior comfort and higher productivity, this range was developed completely inhouse by MTB. It was launched in early 2019,  thus making the company a full range CV player in India. The Furio range looks contemporary, practical, and able to create an identity in the market.

The Furio range comes with Mahindra’s FuelSmart Technology, a real-time driver information system, and targeted at all the major customer applications and business requirements with multiple cargo body length options.

OPTIMO and JAYO

MTB has two equally compelling product offering at the lower end of the market that is up to 7.5T GVW. The Optima and JAYO are two distinct products catering to the last-mile transport needs of customers.

The Optimo performs high on the rigorous duties at the last-mile needs, taking on the challenging terrains, rural roads and even congested city traffic too. It comes in 5.2, 5.5 and 6.2T GVW in diesel and CNG options useful for applications such as e-commerce, parcel and courier, FMCG, container, tanker among others.  Similarly, the Jayo comes in diesel and CNG powertrain in the slightly lower GVW of 4.8T. This truck can be deployed on multiple applications such as parcel and courier, FMCG, consumable, poultry, e-commerce, etc.

BS6 Powertrain

M&M has revealed its BS6 heavy-duty mPOWER and MDI Tech engines with fuelsmart technology and robust aggregates, retaining over 90% of the parts of the erstwhile BS4 vehicles. The Blazo range of heavy-duty range including the tipper X28 and X35 will get this engine, thus making a seamless transition to BS6 emission.

To meet BSVI norms, Mahindra Truck and Bus has used CRDe engines with the incorporation of world-class technologies such SCR, DOC, DPF and EGR, so that the BS6 vehicles are most modern in Indian commercial vehicle industry.

To the ease of customer, MTB has introduced the revolutionary Mahindra iMAXX telematics technology in the entire BS6 range. This is an intelligent fleet telematics solution enabled with IOT, AI & Machine Learning capabilities that can maximize returns for our customers.
