BharatBenz 3523R

The BharatBenz 3523R is a heavy-duty truck with a 35-tonne gross vehicle weight (GVW). It is designed to transport market loads, cement, auto ancillaries, petroleum, and industrial goods. The truck has an 8x2 drive configuration with an IF 7.0 front axle and IR440-11 and IT-10 single tyre lift rear axles. 

Its body maintains 233 mm of ground clearance to make it suitable for off-road haulage in challenging terrains. Further, the 3523R model has a strong 286 mm long, 70 mm wide, and 8 mm thick chassis to withstand heavy cargo loads. It is available in three loading span variants – 25.9 feet, 27.9 feet, and 32 feet – for serving as a tanker and reefer.

BharatBenz 3523R Performance

The BharatBenz 3523R is powered by a 7200cc OM926 6-cylinder diesel BS6-compliant engine that produces 242 hp (180 kW) at 2200 rpm and 850 Nm at around 1200-1600 rpm. Its engine is paired with the mechanical synchromesh gearbox options – G85 for 6-speed and G131 for 9-speed – to ensure effortless gear shifting. 

In order to effectively transfer mechanical power from its engine to auxiliary components, it also features auxiliary power take-off (PTO). The 3523R model can ensure cargo ride at 80 kmph maximum geared speed to cut down on turnaround time. It has a dual-line pneumatic brake that applies a powerful braking force to slow down the heavy-duty vehicle using compressed air. 

The 3523R truck has parabolic-type leaf springs with 2 hydraulic shock absorbers in the front and a balancer-type semi-elliptical leaf spring in the rear to distribute the vehicle’s weight evenly between the axles. Featuring a 380-litre fuel tank, it can handle heavy cargo loads efficiently for long-hour transportation without requiring frequent refuelling.

The 3523R is a 35,000 kg GVW truck with a wheelbase of 5775 mm for the 25.9-feet cargo body variant and 6375 mm for both 27.9-feet and 32-feet cargo body variants to maintain stability during long-hours operation. Its 25.9-foot load body variant specifies a 21.6 m turning circle diameter (TCD) for better navigation as compared to other 27.9-foot and 32-foot variants which get 23.7 m TCD. 

Keeping an overall body width of 2490 mm and overall body height of 2960 mm, the overall body length measures 10,492 mm for the 25.9-feet cargo body variant, 11,092 mm for the 27.9-feet cargo body variant, and 11,992 mm for the 32-feet cargo body variant. The 3523R model maintains gradeability of 19 percent to ensure easy movement of cargo loads over flyovers.

Additionally, the distance between the vehicle's front bumper and front axle – front overhang – is specified at 1485 mm. The model with a 25.9-feet and 27.9-feet load body gets a 2557 mm rear overhang (distance between the centre of the rearmost wheels and the rearmost point of the vehicle). However, its 32-feet cargo body variant rear overhang is 3457 mm to negotiate uneven terrain and loading docks.

In addition to this, the truck incorporates a 60-litre AdBlue tank to reduce nitrogen oxide emissions. Engineered with selective catalytic reduction (SCR) technology, the BharatBenz 3523R truck gets a diesel particulate filter (DPF) to remove soot particles and a 60-litre AdBlue tank to reduce nitrogen emissions. Its cabin features a berth behind seats, allowing the driver to rest while lying down. With comfortable seats and heating, ventilation, and an air-conditioning system (HVAC), the model gives driving comfort even in loading conditions. For easy and improved steering control, the 3523R model incorporates a hydraulic-actuated power steering system.

Performance

The BharatBenz 3523R is powered by an OM926 6-cylinder BS6 diesel engine which is capable of delivering a maximum power of 242 hp (180 kW) at 2200 rpm and a maximum torque of 850 Nm at 1200-1600 rpm. Its 395 mm diameter single dry plate clutch with hydraulic control helps in transmitting torque from its 7200cc engine to the transmission efficiently.

Further, this 3523R truck offers an option of two mechanical synchromesh gearboxes – G85 with 6-speed gears and G131 with 9-speed gears – to improve transmission efficiency. Equipped with parabolic-type leaf springs and 2 hydraulic shock absorbers in front and balancer-type semi-elliptical leaf springs in the rear, the vehicle facilitates jerk-free cargo transportation.
