Available at ex-showroom price of INR 22.7 lakh, 2518 TP has two body options of rock body cab and cowl to offer needed flexibility. Talking about specifications, 2518 TP is powered by Cummins-B 5.9 litre 6-Cylinder diesel engine that churn out 178 bhp power & 675 Nm torque. Also, the gradeability of 34% and top speed of 78 km/h makes 2518 TP a fit on every possible ground even when loaded to its full capacity. The payload capacity of the truck lies between 17,720 - 18,010 kg, which is quite enough for carrying all kinds of mining and construction materials. And to make sure drivers feel cozy inside the cabin, the interiors are equipped with AC, tiltable power steering and sleeper berths with latest driver information display.

AMW Motors is one of the famous heavy vehicles manufactures in India in midst of giants like Tata, Mahindra, Eicher and new contemporaries like Bharatbenz and Volvo. The company has many trucks in its portfolio with 2518 being the most diverse. Although, 2518 truck series has many models, but 2518 TP is one of the top in this segment. It is available in COWL and CAB body options.

2518 TP is good enough to be used as a good carrier with COWL offering flexibility to turn this truck into anything as per the needs and requirements of the transporter. Also, apart from general goods, the Rock Body CAB option is best suitable for moving construction or building material across destinations.

AMW 2518 TP is powered by Cummins B5.9 Litre 5883 cc 6-Cylinder In-line Turbocharged Aftercooled diesel engine, which can easily churn out a maximum power of 178 bhp power @ 2,500 rpm and a peak torque of 675 Nm @ 1,500 rpm.

Paired with Eaton Sychromesh 6-speed gearbox and SECTO Single Dry Plate Coil Spring Type Hydro Pneumatically Operated clutch with 380 mm diameter, 2518 TP is quite capable of hitting the top speed of 78 km/h with highest gradeability of 34%.

Vehicle Built and Load Capacity

AMW has offered 2518 TP in 3 body options, namely COWL, CAB and CAB with Bell Crank Suspension with overall length of 6,895 mm, 7,085 mm and 7,295 mm; overall width of 2,450 mm, 2,475 mm for both CAB options and overall height of 1,914 mm, 2,700 mm and 2,780 mm, respectively.

Total load carrying capacity of all the 3 variants is the same, which is, 25,000 kg of GVW. However, the kerb weight of all the three 2518 TP versions is 7,086 kg, 7,280 kg and 6,990 kg for COWL, CAB and CAB respectively (with Bell Crank Suspension).

Handling and Suspension

AMW 2518 TP is equipped with Adjustable Power Steering alongside Double UJ and steering wheel diameter between 470-475 mm. The Heavy Duty Forged I Beam Reverse Elliot Type front axle and Fully Floating Tandem Rear Axles Hypoid Bevel Gears with Lock Air Operated Inter Axle Differential rear axle also helps the truck to attain balance with the wheelbases of 4,300 mm and 3,930 mm over the turning radius of 8,810 mm and 7,800 mm.

The front suspension of all 3 variants is same – Semi Elliptical Leaf Springs with Shock Absorbers. The rear suspension for COWL and CAB variants is Fully Articulated Inverted Semi Elliptical Leaf Springs on Tandem Bogie Trunnion with Torque rods. And, another CA variant has Bell Crank Springs as rear suspension so the name of variant has been done after it.

Braking and Safety

AMW 2518 TP has very effective braking system with service brakes being Dual Circuit Full Air, Spring Actuated parking brakes on rear axle and butterfly type engine exhaust brakes. The braking system ensures better stopping ability of the truck on every possible Indian terrain. Extra safety has been provided by well-built ladder type all steel chassis frame using high strength steel.

The Front and Rear 10.00x20-16 PR tyres claim excellent road grip and support driver to stop the truck comfortably without slipping while going hard on highways, loaded to full capacity.

Design and Comfort

Talking about the design, it’s basic as same as other trucks in the market with the cabin having some decent features like being tiltable, AC-fitted, sleeper bed, comfort seats, driver information display, tiltable steering and 24 V battery to make the drive easy on long trips.
