Three Wheels United Joins Hands With Piaggio To Procure 3300 Electric 3-Wheelers

Boost India’s quest for faster adoption of EVs
Electric Vehicle financing firm, Three Wheels United (TWU) has signed an agreement with India’s leading last-mile vehicle makers Piaggio to procure an all-new electric three-wheeler, also known as auto-rickshaw. The 3300 electric 3W, over the next 18 months will start to play on the road across different Indian states.
TWU is known for using technology to provide the most comprehensive, affordable loans, and rent-to-own options to India’s micro-entrepreneurs to help them easily switch to EV two and three-wheelers. As part of this order, the company will be facilitating easy and affordable loans to procure 3,300 Piaggio 3-Wheelers Electric Auto Rickshaws allowing drivers to easily transition from conventional engines to EV 3-wheelers.
Commenting on the partnership Cedrick Tandong, CEO and Co-Founder, of Three Wheels United, said, “Currently, there are over 13 lakh EVs registered in the country. A lot needs to be done to achieve mass adoption of EVs in India. We need an ecosystem approach to remove the barriers to easy adoption. Collaboration among vehicle manufacturers, financiers, and charging infrastructure providers can pave the way for mass adoption of EVs in India.”
Accelerating India’s electric transportation, TWU aims to boost the adoption of EVs at the absolute last-mile vehicles and thus will be provided drivers, and owners affordable loans covering up to 100% of the cost of the vehicle without any collateral. Additionally, Three Wheels United's driver app, which provides details on the locations of charging stations, parking options, and vehicle maintenance, will offer constant support to drivers.
Further, TWU also will provide a buyback option that allows drivers to sell their existing pollutive vehicles that are older than ten years and purchase Piaggio’s Ape Electrik EVs. Drivers can make a down payment of Rs 29,999/- and take home a new vehicle.
For an easier operational and ownership experience, Piaggio will step in to offer all the necessary support for the maintenance and speedy servicing of the vehicles, ensuring minimal downtime for operations. The vehicle owners will have dedicated service support from Piaggio dealers and the operations team of Three Wheels United.
