India’s First LNG Heavy-Duty Truck: Everything You Need To Know

Blue Energy Motors introduces the first LNG-fueled heavy-duty tractor-trailer in India. 

The devastating impact of climate change, focus on reducing greenhouse gases and high awareness of sustainable transportation have propelled companies across the world to find ways for greener automobiles. India is not immune to this transition, thus, the move toward greener vehicles has accelerated over the last few years. The focus on alternative fuel vehicles has been on the rise not just in the personal vehicle segment but also in commercial vehicles too. India’s last-mile, affordable three-wheeler market has already witnessed a rapid shift towards greener vehicles. And gradually, the bigger, high-tonnage vehicles too are now finding ways to adopt alternative fuel as the preferred way into the future. In this direction, Blue Energy Motors took a bold step in launching India’s first LNG fuelled heavy-duty 4x2 configuration tractor that promises to reduce greenhouse gases by up to 28%.

We take a look at the top 5 things about this trucks 

1) Engine

The engine is a 6.7L, 6- cylinder producing 280hp of power at 1000 Nm of torque. Fitted with a 9-speed mechanical gearbox.

2) Aggregates

The top aggregate includes a hub reduction axle, the suspension at the front is parabolic and the rear semi-elliptical type, the front, and rear brakes are drum type, a 120Ah battery with 24V, and a 990L single fuel tank made of stainless steel. A 4-point suspended, tiltable, fully air-conditioned cabin with a sleeper berth.

3) Performance

The gradeability is 25.19%, a maximum speed of 80 kmph, turning circle diameter meter of 15.1 meter. The tractor’s gross carrying weight of 54 tonnes and its kerb weight of 7,117 kg. 

4) Top Features

Top features include a standard AC Cabin, telematics, LED tail lamps, tilt and telescopic steering, hydraulic power assisted steering, and energy saving compressor. 

5) Versatile Truck

The truck comes with an average range autonomy of up to 1400 km, addressing a variety of applications, and is suitable for various road and load conditions. The tractor comes with the best pickup capacity across all kinds of terrains, impressive load pulling capability in all types of operating cycles, suitable for heavy-duty performance, lowest fuel costs, best-in-class operating economics, a modern connected truck with advanced features, higher superior comfort, and convenience.
