A prudent surge in the sales of Eicher Commercial Vehicles

Published On Jun 08, 2015By Tushar Vijay

New Delhi: The month of May this year sees a 7.6 percent increase in the total sales of VE Commercial Vehicles ( A Volvo Group and Eicher Motors joint venture). The number of trucks that were sold out in May last year was 3,750 units, which is raised upto 4,035 units in this year. The segregated stats reveal that this total amount of sales are inclusive of 3,962 units of Eicher brand and 73 units of Volvo brand. Eicher trucks and buses were sold out at a whopping hike of about 18 percent in the domestic market. A huge upward deviation of the sales from 3,064 units to 3,617 units in a year's time speaks for itself. The company states that, a total sale of 3,962 units of Eicher branded trucks and buses this May have superseded the figure of 3,685 units that was recorded in the same month of last year. On the other hand, the exports of these units have plummeted about 44.4 percent from 621 units last year to about 345 units in current year's May.

However, we can expect a turnaround in the coming months, since the company has introduced PRO series trucks in international markets. A 12.3 percentage of upsurge can be noticed, when the 73 units sale of Volvo trucks is compared against the 65 units of previous year's trade in the same month.
