5 Top CV Makers In December 2022

Take a look at the top truck brands as per the FADA retail sales data for the last month of the calendar year.
The Federation of Automobile Dealers Associations released Vehicle Retail Data for December 22. The data indicates continued demand for commercial vehicles across all segments of the market, however, after a strong month-on-month growth, sales volume has registered a drop, eroding market share. The total retail sale of commercial vehicles stands at 66,945 units, up by 11% (December 21:60,491 units). The segment break-up is LCV: 38,950 (+4%), MCV:4,018 (-10%), and HCV: 21,269 (+27) units.
According to FADA, “The CV segment has continued to grow during the entire CY2022 and is now almost at par with CY2019 retails. With the uptick in demand in LCV, HCV, Buses, and Construction equipment, the government’s continued push for infrastructure development has kept this segment going.”

Topping the ranking is Tata Motors which retailed a total of 26,049 units in the last month of the calendar year with a market share of 39% in the overall CV sector.
The second volume player is Mahindra, a strong player in India’s small and light commercial vehicle segment retailed 16,928 units in the month, which gives the brand a 25% market share.
The Chennai-based Ashok Leyland stays at number third position with a total retail sale of 10,178 units in the month with an overall market share of 15%.
The major Light and medium-duty truck maker, Eicher Trucks is at the 4th spot with a total volume of 4,113 units of retail sale volume in the month, which gives it a 6% market share in the overall CV volume of the industry.
India’s top passenger vehicle maker, Maruti Suzuki is India’s 5th largest CV maker with a monthly retail volume of 3,043 units in the month. With just one product- the popular mini-truck Super Carry, the firm gets a market share of 4.5% in the overall CV market of India.
