Scania Showcases Green Bus and Metrolink Bus at ICEPT

Scania Commercial Vehicles India Pvt. Ltd. is one of the world's leading manufacturers in the truck and bus realm. The company has been known for pursuing eco-friendly transportation systems, as well as implementing them in its vehicle ranges. Recently, the company showcased an ethanol powered 'Green Bus' along with two variants of the premium intercity Metrolink bus at a convention hosted in Delhi. The company's senior executives took part in the event, and also presented speeches on subjects relating to a more sustainable transport system for the future. Also present in the event were representatives from the government, including the union minister of road transport, Shri Nitin Gadkari, and the chairman of the transport committee, Shri Praveen Datke.

Mr. Anders Grundstromer, the managing director of the company's Indian arm and senior vice president in the Scania group, was present as the co chairman of the session. He addressed topics such as “Smart Vehicle Technologies & Alternate Fuels” as well as “Sustainable Public Road Transport - Challenges & Future Road Map.”

Scania has been present in India since 2007, and the company has been a constant pioneer for sustainable and futuristic transport system. The company introduced its very first ethanol powered bus in Sweden more than twenty years ago, creating a distinguished and revolutionary mark for itself. Reaching a new milestone in this path, the company had launched its ethanol powered 'Green Bus' in Nagpur through its Indian subsidiary.

Mr. Grundstromer remarked on the occasion, saying: “It is a very ambitious initiative by ASRTU to host a conference to promote latest trends in public transport services and create awareness on the need for sustainable transport system in India”.
