Upcoming Triton EV 8.5-Tonne Electric Truck Will Be A Game Changer! Here’s Why

Triton EV's upcoming 8.5-tonne electric truck for India promises a 300km range. How will it impact the Indian logistics sector and benefit the country? Let’s explore:

Triton EV has announced its plans to deliver electric vehicles, and offer clean tech and smart electric mobility solutions for enhancing the logistics sector in India. Himanshu Patel, chairman and MD, Triton EV, said that the company is all set to unveil an 8.5-tonne electric truck for the Indian and Middle Eastern commercial vehicle markets.

Recently, the company also made an announcement regarding the unveiling of a 3.5-tonne capacity electric pickup truck, though the date of the unveiling is yet to be announced. As for the 8.5-tonne electric truck for India, Triton EV said that the range and lower maintenance requirements could become a game-changer for the entire Indian electric vehicle industry.

Triton EV Comments:

Patel said that we (Triton EV) are looking at mid-November 2023 to make the truck ready for showcase and this will be a great asset for the logistics sector as the 8.5-tonne electric truck is getting developed on the basis of acute market demand. He added that the 8.5-tonne truck will run 300km on a single full charge. 

He further stated that this product (the 8.5-tonne electric truck) is expected to make an overwhelming impact on the commercial vehicle segment because of its robust performance capabilities. The 300km single charge range and lower maintenance requirements of this 8.5-tonne electric truck will become a major game-changer for the industry. 

Triton EV Impact: How Is It Going To Benefit India?

According to Triton EV, the introduction of its electric trucks should open the doors for enhancing the profitability of operators and fleet owners that utilise them and could also improve supply chain coverage. Supporting local EV production could also generate job opportunities within the supply chain for a larger number of people.

Recently Unveiled Electric Trucks:

Switch Mobility has unveiled its new IeV series of electric trucks in India. These trucks boast a range of 300km with “Opportunity Charging”. Opportunity Charging basically refers to the practice of charging a battery in short intervals throughout the day instead of charging it in full all at once.

The vehicles also offer cargo bodies that extend up to 9.7 feet, capable of accommodating up to 340 cubic feet of containers. Equipped with sliding and reclining seats, along with foldable parking brakes, the IeV series trucks could also be one of the best cargo haulage electric vehicles in the country.

The introduction of more electric trucks could potentially improve the Indian supply chain landscape and enhance the profitability of fleet owners, operators and managers since electric trucks in India offer a competent driving range along with lower maintenance requirements, in turn lowering the total cost of ownership.
