Piaggio Vehicles wholly-owned subsidiary of the Piaggio Group forayed into the Indian market in 1999 with the introduction of a three-wheeler brand Apé. Ape 3W has become a hugely successful brand in the last-mile cargo and people carrier segment. Over the last two decades, Piaggio has cemented its position in India's light transportation sector with the expansion of three-wheelers in diesel, petrol, CNG, LPG fuel variants & now introduced full-electric 3W too. The company also entered the fast-growing mini-trucks with brands like Porter to take on the segment's competition. Piaggio has nearly 30 lakh customers across India and exported its vehicles to more than 50 countries globally. Piaggio makes its vehicles in the modern integrated manufacturing plant located at Baramati, near Pune. It has a total annual production capacity of over 380,000 commercial vehicles and produces its engines in the manufacturing unit. Piaggio has an over 3000-strong workforce comprising experienced engineers, R&D sales, service, and marketing professionals. To be closer to the customer and serve them better, the company also has developed an extensive sales and service network across India.
