January 2, 2020: The Mahindra Blazo X range of M&HCV trucks and tippers was launched in November 2018 and is designed to offer the best of modern design and engineering. Among the most famous haulage models in the Blazo range in the Sub 25 Ton category is the new Mahindra Blazo X 25. The maximum permissible GVW of the Mahindra Blazo X 25 is 25000kg and is offered in three possible vehicle configurations - Cabin & Chassis, Face Cowl & Chassis and Cabin with load body options. The load body options have a choice of - Fixed Side Deck and High Side Deck. The loading span with Cabin is 22 ft, 24 ft, 28 ft, and 31 ft and with Cowl are 23.5 ft, 25.5 ft, 29.5 ft, and 32 ft, respectively.
The Mahindra Blazo X 25 has a choice of four different wheelbase options - 5000 mm, 5350 mm, 6100 mm and 6600 mm while the ground clearance stands at a commendable 250mm. The turning circle diameter for the 6600 mm wheelbase variant is 22.9m. The Mahindra Blazo X 25 has a tiltable cabin with a sleeper berth. Suspension duties are handled by a Semi Elliptical leaf Spring with Shock Absorber for the front while the rear gets Semi elliptical leaf springs as well.
Powering the Mahindra Blazo X 25 is the company’s BSIV compliant 6 cylinder 7200cc Mahindra mPower FuelSmart diesel engine. This engine produces a maximum power output of 274bhp made at 2400rpm while the peak torque rating of 950Nm arriving in the very low rpm range of just 1100-1700rpm. The transmission duties are taken care by an Eaton 6S 6-Speed manual gearbox mated to a 395mm diaphragm type single dry plate clutch. The top speed is limited to 80kmph and the Mahindra Blazo X 25 offers a gradeability of 25% fuel tank capacity is 330 liters along with a separate 42-liter tank for Ad-Blue.

According to Mahindra, it is an improved long haul goods carriage truck. It is equipped with smart features and is specifically developed to provide high-level performance, effective trucking and fuel saving. This truck is known to be more profitable for the businesses as it offers excellent mileage and can carry a good amount of load. Mahindra Blazo X 25 is a truck that can do well for parcels, carrying agricultural goods, sacks and other general items. It has a 7.2-litre high torque and low RPM mPower fuel-smart engine with multi-code switches. The truck is offered with customisable body options and a sleeper cabin. Some of the notable features of the smart truck are power steering, AC, telematics, driver information display, adjustable driver seat and tiltable steering to provide additional comfort to the driver and the co-driver. Engine and performance
The Blazo X 25 is powered by a 7,200cc, mPower 7.2-litre FuelSmart, BS IV Compliant engine that churns a max power of 274hp at 2,200rpm and a peak torque of 950Nm at 1,100-1,700rpm which is transferred to the wheels through an Eaton 6s transmission. It has a gradeability of 25 percent. Featuring the FuelSmart technology, the large engine comes with extremely high reserve capacity, backed up by proven CRDe expertise. In combination with the multi-mode switches, the engine delivers an exceptional performance. The engine is capable of returning an impressive fuel-economy along with better pulling and pickup ability. The fuel tank capacity of the Blazo X 25 is 330 litres and Mahindra claims that the truck can reach a top speed of 80kmph.
Vehicle build and load capacity
The Blazo X 25 is built on a chassis with cabin design and features a box body. The 5,000mm wheelbase has a load body length of 6,716mm, while the 5,350mm wheelbase comes with a load body length of 7,315mm. When the truck is loaded to its maximum payload capacity, it sits at 250mm above the ground. The Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW) of the truck is 25 tonnes.
Handling and suspension
Mahindra has equipped the Blazo X 25 with a tilt and telescopic power steering so that handling the truck is easy and effective. Keeping in mind the rugged nature of Indian roads, the company has also equipped the Blazo X 25 with semi-elliptic leaf springs at both ends to perform suspension duties; they easily absorb the road bumps and potholes. Additionally, the single reduction, fully floating axle shaft aids the suspension and handling of the truck.
Braking and safety
Braking setup on the Blazo X 25 comprises full air S Cam, 10 bar system which does well to provide the required retardation without any extra efforts. It is also equipped with ABS to further enhance the braking.
Design and comfort
Designed in line with a modern design language, the Blazo X 25 poses a wide windscreen upfront with large black-coloured rear view mirrors fitted on both sides. The front grille flaunts vertical spokes, below which are the LED headlamps and turn indicators. One can easily hop into the sleeper type cabin which is full of features like tilt and telescopic power steering, optional air-conditioning, telematics, real-time driver information display and an adjustable driver seat to provide additional comfort to the driver and the co-driver.
