December 24, 2019: With what is quite possibly the most iconic and instantly recognizable ‘Indian Truck’ design, the Tata SK 1613 Hymiler is the tipper variant of Tata’s most popular and the oldest Tata SK 1613 that first arrived way back in 1990. In fact, the Tata SK 1613 Hymiler is indeed the country’s only semi forward control, medium commercial vehicle truck. This sub-16-ton tipper truck has a maximum permissible GVW of 16200kg.
Powering the Tata SK 1613 Hymiler is the company’s BSIV compliant 6 cylinder 5675cc Tata Cri6-75 diesel engine. The maximum power output from this engine is 134bhp made at 2400rpm while the peak torque rating is set at 490Nm which arrives at just 1400rpm. A 6-Speed Manual Gearbox takes up transmission duties and is mated to a 352mm single dry plate clutch. It has a fuel tank capacity of either 150 liters or 225 liters depending on the wheelbase variant.
The Tata SK 1613 Hymiler is offered in a choice of three wheelbases - 3225 mm, 3625 mm and 4225 mm respectively. Design and Comfort
Design is a bit off-ramp here. Just like Tata LPK 1613, SK has a flat design and doesn’t support much of aesthetically driven characteristics. All you would get with this truck is the basic edge-to-edge design, scaled to respond the truck dimension without any element of attraction added. The material used inside is however of good quality and consoles are placed precisely to support easy driving reflexes. Also, the features like Driver Information Display and Tiltable Steering help making up for the loss of good exterior and design element.
