December 27, 2019: The Tata LPK 2523 is among the most popular sub 25 Ton tippers in the Indian market and is a high deck dipper. Tata claims that this tipper truck offers best-in-class drivability. In fact, the tata LPK 2523 is the foremost choice of customers involved in transporting the business of coal, stone, gravel, sand, and concrete. Ta says that this tipper is a perfect choice for all tipper applications that require a power-packed combination of performance, productivity, and easy driving.
The Tata LPK 2523 has a maximum permissible GVW of 25000kg and is available in a choice of either 16 Cu.M Box body or 14 Cu.M Scoop body load body options. The vehicle configuration can be chosen either as a Cabin with Box body or a Cabin with Scoop body. The wheelbase is 3880mm and the ground clearance is - 235 mm (Inverted bogie) and 220 mm (Ultimaax) respectively.
Powering the Tata LPK 2523 is the company’s BSIV compliant 6 cylinder 5883cc Tata Cummins ISBe 5.9 230 40 diesel engine. This engine produced a maximum power output of 225bhp made at just 2500rpm while the peak torque rating of 850Nm arrives at just 1500rpm. The transmission duties are taken care by the Tata G 1150 – DD 9-Speed manual gearbox mated to a 380mm single plate dry friction type clutch. The top speed is limited to 80kmph and it offers a brilliant gradeability of 48% (Crawler Gear) and 34% (First Gear). The fuel tank capacity is 300 liters along with a separate 35-liter fuel tank for Ad-Blue. It gets Power steering and a 6-way adjustable driver seat while Air conditioning is optional.

TATA LPK 2523 is one of the six variants of Tata’s multi-axle tippers range. It is fitted with Tata G1150, India's 1st indigenously developed 9-speed gearboxes. It comes with standard or inverted bogie suspension and customers can choose from 6 or 9-speed gearbox. It is a recent addition in Tata Motor’s arsenal of heavy commercial vehicles. It competes with Eicher Pro 6025T and Ashok Leyland’s U-2523-T/1053.
The truck comes in three variants: Tata LPK 2523 HD 16CUM BX 10X20 NT, Tata LPK 2523 HD 16CUM BX 11X20 MT, Tata LPK 2523 HD 14CUM SCOOP 11X20 MT.
Priced at INR 35,51,000 (ex-showroom price, New Delhi), Tata LPK 2523 is a value for money. However, as you might expect its price is slightly different in different states.

Engine & Performance
Tata LPK 2523 is powered with a BSIV complaint 6-cylinder Cummins ISBe 5.9 230 40 engine. It is capable of generating a maximum power of up to 170 kW power at 2500 rpm and peak torque of up to 850 Nm at1500 rpm. Its Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) technology ensures that efficiency and durability of the truck isn’t comprised.
The truck’s single dry plate clutch is very responsive. The clutch, with a diameter of 380 mm, ensures that power is accurately transmitted to the driveline for better performance. Coupled with a Tata G 1150 OD gearbox with 9-speed ranges, it helps the engine maintain its optimal rpm range. And, thus increases fuel efficiency.
It has an overall gradeability of 48%, which is way ahead than its competitors.
Vehicle Build & Load Capacity
Tata Motors has lived up to the expectations and has built a very sturdy truck. A Single plate dry friction type clutch plate makes it very responsive. Moreover, since the clutch generates low heat, it does not need a cooling medium.
Shot blasting technique improves the longevity of the chassis. The chassis has a ladder type heavy duty frame and has a long member size of 285mm x 65mm x 7mm.
This high deck dipper has extra heavy duty forged I beam reverse Elliot type front axle. It has an extra heavy duty, hypoid gears, fully floating rear axle shafts, which are stronger than their semi-floating counterparts and make Tata LPK 2523 ideal for carrying heavy loads. It has a colossal 300-litre tank.

Handling & Suspension
With 3880 mm wheelbase (optional) and a hydraulic power steering, Tata LPK 2523 can manoeuvre the most difficult terrains with ease. The pendant type accelerator and advanced instrument cluster add to the ride quality.
The semi-elliptical leaf spring suspension at the front provides strong support between the wheels, axles, and the truck’s chassis. You can choose from an inverted bogie suspension or the optional Ultimax rubber suspension at the rear. A boogies suspension offers better stability with heavy loads and is very reliable even in extreme climatic conditions and is low maintenance. On the other hand, a rubber suspension ensures better handling, stability, and ride quality in even when the truck is used in harsh and unexpected ground conditions.
With a ground clearance of 220 mm (up to 249mm) and mining type tires, it is one of Tata’s best offering for construction, mining, coal, and similar sectors
Braking & Safety
The truck is fitted with Full Air S-Cam with Automatic Adjuster brakes, which are more controllable than traditional hydraulic brakes are effortless to use. There is also the Engine Exhaust Brake system, which serves as an auxiliary braking system, that can be used when the truck is at low speeds. This brake reduces the wear and tear of the regular service brakes.
Design & Comfort
The truck comes with AC and blower options. The new improved Day Cabin has an ergonomically designed dashboard with very comfortable interiors. It has an Advanced Instrument Cluster that has everything placed within easy reach. It has a pendant type accelerator that adds to the ride quality.
It has a hydraulic power steering that lets the driver manoeuvre the most difficult terrains with ease.
