November 23, 2020: Mahindra Bolero Pikup4x4 variant is targeted to a niche customer segment who want a cargo and lifestyle pickup. More of a fun vehicle along with business element, the Bolero Pikup 4X4 serves the dual purpose of the customers. Like the name suggests, it is a four-wheel-drive offering more power at your disposal; you can deploy it for some of the tough cargo applications. Mahindra positioned this Bolero to the customers who look to use it for business and leisure purposes. Bolero 4x4 Durable: Bolero Pikup 4x4 easily takes on all kinds of challenging terrain, equipped with highly durable chassis, rugged suspensions, bigger tyre size and response pickup. This variant came with higher ground clearance for superior pick up and speed and shared many commonalities with the Extralong and Extra Strong variants of the Bolero Pikup family.
Bolero 4x4 Engine: This 4x4 variant shares the same powertrain comprising m2DiCR 4 cylinder, 2.5L TB engine. It produces 75hp of power and 200 Nm of torque, tuned to a 5-speed gearbox.
Bolero 4x4 Suspension: Bolero 4x4 suspension is a rigid leap spring and has both the manual and power steering options available. The front brake is disc and drum-type at the rear. The tyre size is 7.00 R15 and the wheel rim size is 38.1 cm.
Bolero 4x4 Payload: The payload of the 4x4 is 1015 kg, wheelbase of 3014 mm, and the fuel tank is 57 liter. The wheelbase is 3014 mm and the overall length is 4859 mm. The cargo body outer is 2281 mm x 1532 mm x 750 mm with the standard driver plus one passenger sitting in the cabin.
Bolero 4x4 Key Rivals: There aren’t many pick-ups that compete against this performance-oriented 4x4 Bolero, except Tata Yodha 4x4, and also the premium Isuzu D-Max.

Overview
Mahindra Big Bolero Pik-Up is a mini truck version of its Bolero SUV. The Pik-Up comes with similar front design as the SUV. The more powerful, stronger, and comfortable vehicle is one of India’s biggest pickups in recent times.
The vehicle comes with a huge payload capacity and a long cargo deck, which make it a perfect choice for businessmen and traders across the country. The truck also gets a stylish interior and a big ergonomically-designed comfortable cabin across all variants to provide a fatigue-free drive.
The Big Bolero Pik-Up is available in three variants, based on the payload capacity - 1,250 kilograms and a high-end variant of 1,500 kilograms. Besides, it is also available in Cowl Body Chassis (CBC) that helps the customers to build the Cargo body as per their need and application.
The Big Bolero Pik-Up can be easily maintained and comes with the price tag of Rs. 6.15 lakhs (ex-showroom) for the BS-III model and Rs. 6.30 lakhs (ex-showroom) for the BS-IV version.

Engine and Performance
The Mahindra Big Bolero Pik-Up is powered by a 2.5-litre, m2DICR (Direct Injection Common Rail) four-cylinder, BS-IV compliant engine that can churn out a maximum power of 63 bhp at 3,200 rpm, along with the highest torque 195 Nm, which comes between 1,500 rpm and 1,800 rpm. The engine is coupled with a 5-speed manual transmission gearbox along with a single plate dry clutch.
Besides, the pick-up truck can provide a mileage of around 13 kmpl, which is decent for a vehicle with such a powerful setup.
Vehicle Built and Load Capacity
The Mahindra Big Bolero Pik-Up is made with strong chassis frame and a 4x4 axle configuration that is sturdy enough to carry heavy load. The Bolero Pik-Up gets a cargo body of 2.76 metre that is built on the chassis, which is one of the longest decks body among most pick-up trucks in India and allows customer to load bigger packages. The vehicle has a day cabin as standard, which is not tiltable. The ground clearance is at a decent 195 mm, which makes it suitable for city hauls as well as mild off-roads.
The Pick-up truck measures 5,215 mm in length. The gross vehicle weight is 3,225 kilograms, out of which the overall kerb weight is 1,725 kilograms and the payload capacity is 1,500 kilograms.
Handling and Suspension
The Mahindra Big Bolero pickup truck features power steering for added convenience for the driver. However, the wheelbase is 3.26 metres, which is a little on the longer side, thereby indicating to a longer turning radius of 6.5 metres. The decent ground clearance helps on off-roads easily.
As for the suspension for the 4x4 axle configuration, the vehicle is suspended over Semi-Elliptical Leaf spring on the front and the rear also gets the same. The setup is pretty apt for taking the vehicle on most kinds of roads.
Braking and Safety
The Big Bolero Pik-up gets disc brakes for all the wheels, which offers great stopping power, especially considering that it is more powerful than some of its competitors in the segment. Though the vehicle is mostly used for city goods and cargo movement, ABS is not provided, even as an option. However, it still manages to do well without. Parking brakes are still offered as standard, unlike many other models that do not have it.
In terms of the safety, the vehicle has seatbelts for the D+1 layout inside the cabin, which is a standard across all the variants. The pickup truck also comes with Engine immobilizer as a special safety feature for its BS IV variant.
Design and Comfort
The Mahindra Big Bolero Pik-up has a facelifted exterior design and a premium interior setup with new instrument panel and colour theme that stand different from its previous models. The front section looks chiselled and muscular. The multi-reflector headlamps and the fabric seats make this vehicle more trendy as a cargo car. The SUV-like truck gets ELR seat belts to provide complete safety for the occupants.
An adjustable driver seat is added in the spacious big cabin to provide comfort while driving the truck. However, AC is not offered as an option.
