It has engine specifications of 4.9 Litre 4,948cc 6-Cylinder Water Cooled Turbocharged Intercooled Direct Injection Diesel motor house and generates 147 bhp power with 471 Nm torque. Available in 3,485 mm wheelbase option, it has load capacity of 8.5 CuM and payload of 16,200 kg with body types of CAB and FBV. It’s perfect for loads like coal, metal, stones, gravel, sand, and other ores. It comes fitted with power steering to maneuver truck easily on tough terrains. Developed with the help of Swedish manufacturer Volvo, Eicher trucks have been able to surge from the bottom of sales faced every other heavy vehicle maker too. Packed with 5.0 Litre 6 - Cylinder Water Cooled, Turbo-charged Intercooled DI BSIII engine, it is able to churn out a maximum power of 147 bhp @ 3,200 rpm and heavy torque of 471 Nm @ 1,440 rpm. These numbers are good enough to make it run comfortably in mining areas or rugged roads.
Hitting a top speed of 78 km/h and with gradeability of 27%, its 5-speed synchromesh gearbox does work effectively. Along with the 330 mm diameter Single Plate Dry Friction Type Hydraulic Assisted clutch, the overall transmission process of power and gears goes smoothly.

With the wheelbase of 3,485 mm, Terra 16 is available in both Cab & Chassis and Fully Built-up body options. The turning radius is also decent 7,015 mm, which makes negotiation on sharp turns and narrow roads easy. Handling and Suspension
Eicher has offered Hydraulic Power Assisted Re-Circulating Ball & Nut type steering with tilt motion so that driver can adjust it according to his ease of use and can maneuver the truck effectively in any direction.
For suspension, there are Semi Elliptical Laminated Leaf Springs at both front and rear with Hydraulic Double Acting Telescopic Shock Absorbers at front only to nullify the effect of jerks and bumps. There also are Heavy Duty Fully Floating Banjo Type rear axle and Heavy Duty Forged I Beam Reversed Elliot Type front axle to offer much needed drive balance with load laden full to truck’s capacity.
Braking and Safety
To ensure that driver is able to stop Terra 16 at safe distance irrespective of the roads he is driving on, Eicher has packed this truck with Dual Circuit Full Air S Cam service brakes and Spring parking brakes acting at rear wheels only. The 10.00 x 20 - 16 PR tyres also keep the grip tight on uneven territories.
Providing further safety, there are seat belts provided with a strong ‘C’ channel ladder type frame made up of lab tested steel up to its strength.
Design and Comfort
The designing is very regular for Terra 16 just like the other same category trucks, although with the company touch like different shaped headlights and overall structure.
Coming to the comfort part, the cabin design is very ergonomic with lost of space, comfort and tilt options. The seats are standard, but a driver would get every necessary feature required to make the journey entertaining and cozy.
