It's maintenace cost is very small Great average I getting upto 4.5 If I fail to service it's also giving great performance Never stop between Route

It's good to have these type of truck got at reasonable price and mileage is greater I think this truck was made from me iam able to get good earnings through which iam able to payback my emi thank you ashok Leyland you are awesome my personal view is iam able to buy another truck by next year and also I will buy the same truck again truly speaking try to get this truck now a days they were also giving insurance free of cost upon buying this

It is best truck for haulage. Mielage of truck is very good in underload and maintainance free. Also the comfort for driver is very good. The parts are easily available in market at cheap rates and ashok leyland brand is known for its reliablility and performsnce . The dashboard provided is far better than competitors

With decent mileage, durable body, lower running cost and parts availability makes it the perfect option to chose from. The applications for which it can be used is delivering market load, carrying minerals or even the construction materials.

Engine and Performance

Packed with H Series Trubocharged Intercooled with InLine FIP 5,660cc diesel engine, it is able to produce 160 bhp power @ 2,400 rpm and 550 Nm torque @ 1,500 - 1,700 rpm. The torque is not much, but is good enough to pull the truck smoothly on any road and so the power to accelerate.

Hitting a top speed of 79 km/h is also good enough for a long haul truck and with gradeability of 18.54%, it could easily climb the steeps. Its 6-speed gearbox and Single Plate Dry type clutch with boosters and 380 mm diameter chips in this process apart from making the power transmission smoother.

Vehicle Built and Load Capacity

2516 IL has wheelbase of 4,902 mm which makes the turning swifter on narrow roads and sharper turns. The overall length and width of 9,294 mm and 2,432 mm with loading span of 7,163 mm is one of the highest in its class.

With this much loading span it could carry Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW) of 25,000 kg with payload of 15,800 kg and kerb weight of 9,200 kg. While truck is fully loaded, it sits at 260 mm above the ground, which is a good for all type of roads in India.

Handling and Suspension

Offered with a mechanical steering is, however, a bit on downside as most of truck in same category are equipped with power steering option. Because of the mechanical option, driver is required to put more effort while moving the truck and fatigue is more for sure.

Coming down to suspension, Semi Elliptical Laminated Multileaf springs at front and rear which cut of most of the jerks and bumps experienced while driving. The Heavy Duty forged I Beam Reverse Elliot type front axle and combination of Single Speed Hypoid Gear & Heavy Duty Tubular Dummy type 1st & 2nd rear axle also helps to attain balanced and bump free drive.

Braking and Safety

With Air service brakes and separate pair of parking brakes, 2516 IL is very easy to come at rest on most of the roads with load full to its capacity. These brakes ensure that the truck stay out of danger in most of the conditions on accident prone Indian roads.

Also, if a mishap happens then to save the passengers from getting into severe medical conditions the company has used high strength lab tested material for the body and chassis. However, there are no seat belts or any other features like ABS and EBD to reduce the effect of a crash.

Design and Comfort

2516 IL is not much of art piece when it comes to the aesthetic part and company can definitely work on it to improve. Right now the truck is getting sold with regular design radiator grille, 2 piece wind shield and round shaped headlamps.

There is also nothing much in the cabin to describe apart from standard seats, regular controls and needed space, The scope of improvement is also there and the company is supposed to improve that in upcoming future.
