Offering a max speed of 78 km/h and 26.2% gradeability, AMW 2518 TM is fit for navigating steep slopes and rough terrains. With payload capacity of 17,720 kg and transit mixture drum capacity of 6 CuM, AMW 2518 TM is definitely an option with higher load carrying requirements. Engine and Performance

Packed with Cummins B5.9 5,883 cc Turbocharged After Cooled Diesel BSIII 6 Cylinder in-line engine, it churns out a maximum power of 178 bhp @ 2,500 rpm and a maximum torque of 675 Nm @ 1,500 rpm. Generating this much torque at such low rpms is definitely beneficial for builders as the performance of truck plays a major role for profit.

Able to hit a top speed of 78 km/h and with a gradeability quotient of 26.2%, 2518 TM could easily climb any mountain in India. Helping it to do so and making the gear & power transmission smooth is Eaton 6306A 6-Speed gearbox and Single Plate Coil Spring Type Hydro Pneumatically Operated 330 m diameter clutch.

Vehicle Built and Load Capacity

With the wheelbase of 4,300 mm and turning radius of 9,305 mm, 2518 TM is able to make a cut swiftly on sharp turns and narrow roads. Built specifically as Transit Mixture, it spans 7,385 mm in length, 2,475 mm in width and 2,700 mm in height. It also has decent ground clearance of 280 and 270 mm at front and rear, respectively.

Coming to the load capacity, it could lift upto 25,000 kg in total, defined as Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW) with kerb weight of 7,280 kg and payload capacity of 17,720 kg. The Transit Mixture drum has the capacity of 6 Cubic Meter (Cu.M.).

Handling and Suspension

Smooth handling has been one of the aspects where AMW has an edge over others and 2518 is no exception. It has integral power steering with Double Universal Joint and tilt moment along with the decent diameter of 475 mm to keep the driver at ease while maneuvering.

Coming to the suspension unit, it has Semi Elliptical Leaf Springs with Heavy Duty Double Acting Hydraulic Shock Absorbers at front and Fully Articulated Inverted Semi Elliptical Leaf Springs on Tandem Bogie Triunion with Torque rods as rear the rear one.

Further balancing the drive are Forged I Beam Reverse Elliot type front axle and Fully Floating Hypoid Bevel Gears with Interaxle Differential Lock rear axle. These axle share the weight in ratio of 6,000 kg and 19,000 kg at front and rear respectively while the truck is fully loaded.

Braking and Safety

Effective brakes are another important part of AMW trucks, hence the 2518 TM is equipped with Dual Circuit Full Air service brakes, Spring Actuated on rear wheels only parking brakes and Butterfly Type engine exhaust brakes.

Further improving the safety is its 3-point inertia seat belts and integrated under run protection device as standard. The overall frame and chassis structure is also made up of high-strength steel.

Design and Comfort

With all these above mentioned things, AMW has worked very hard on design aspect and has set some standards for other makers to follow. However, the overall design is still not very revolutionary, but could be followed to improve the old regular looks.

Inside the cabin too, there are many features like head restraint driver and co-driver seats, extra wide sleeper births, air conditioned, noise reduction manufacturing, FM radio player and all over spacious room with ergonomic design steps followed.
