Even though the model's release is years away, the industry is forever abuzz about the Mercedes Benz pickup truck. According to insider information from a well-known auto blog, Mercedes Benz might release its upcoming pickup truck in varied trims.
As reported, the German auto maker proposes three variants to deliver customer necessities. The base variant would come with 188bhp 2.3-litre 4-cylinder diesel engine. The mid-range variants would also house the same engine, but with additional luxuries. The high end trim is said to get V6 oil-burner with 255bhp of maximum power. As told by the insider, this truck will be priced around 55000 Australian dollars for the base trim and might range till 80000 Australian dollars for the luxury end.
As told, this German car manufacturer will collaborate with Nissan NP300 Navara, however promising a different design outcome.
"Yes, to come to an attractive price we are using a common platform, but all the rest is done by Mercedes – to design, to develop the vehicle specifically to meet Mercedes criteria," says Daimler board member, Thomas Weber.
Silencing the rumors, the insider further added that the pickup would be called as X-class or Z-class. Mercedes is favoring X-class as it adds power to the upcoming pickup. The company is preparing to setup the plants in Spain and Argentina, which promotes taxes and inflates market price of this imported Model in the US. This most awaited pickup truck has already set competition for Volkswagen Amarok and Ford Ranger.
