Volvo Trucks Thailand Introduces Real-Time App for Improving Fleet Logistics
Published On Nov 17, 2015
Volvo Trucks Thailand has brought out an online application that enhances transport and logistics for its customers. Termed as Dynafleet, the app would help fleet owners cut petrol bills and maintenance costs, while at the same time, monitor behavior of drivers when needed. This had been reported by Tawin Kongchandee, an executive from the Volvo Group. This application was developed as an instrument for reducing operating costs. It displays all the data on the truck's dashboard through satellite communications and a fleet management system. It allows fleet owners to download data pertaining to their vehicles to their smart phones, allowing them to avail updates at any time and place.
The application updates the truck's position in real time through Google Maps application. It also records driving routes and the current status of the truck, keeping fleet owners aware of their drivers’ activities. This also helps to detect theft of fuel during the trip. The report module of this app helps to identify driver behavior, which directly causes excess fuel consumption, thereby alerting fleet owners in case of anomalies in the driving pattern.
“The customers are able to download both real-time and historical data of a certain driver in a specific truck, allowing them to know the driving manner of its driver, including the usage of brakes, cruise control, engine etc. All this data will help truck owners know how they can save cost of maintenance on engines, tyres and brakes,” Tawin said.
