Volvo Hosts Workers Competition VISTA, Breaking Records as Largest Such Event

VISTA, a service training award organised by Volvo, has made its mark as the largest event of its type in the world. An international competition hosted for vehicle workers that aims to underline talent in the workshop industry to the world, it originally started in 1957 as a simple competition between Volvo's workers. The event aims to promote better customer service by enhancing the pool of talent in the company's workshop network.
This year, the company is hosting the largest ever VISTA event yet, with a total of 18,500 participants. Through the competition, the workers hone their ability to work together and deliver efficient solutions to problems that may meet them during live working hours. The event is therefore a synergy of a healthy competition along with a massive training process.
“VISTA is a great way of seeing how our services compare with other markets across the globe, and having four teams reach the Asia Pacific semi-final really shows the high level of competence in our workshops in India,” says Sabu Isaac, General Manager, Aftermarket, Volvo Group Trucks, India. He added, “All the other participants have also benefited greatly too since they come away from the experience with improved skills and knowledge.”
Technicians in the competition are now gathering for the semi-finals of the event. Around 916 participants from India would also be included in the event, which has smashed records to become the largest workshop competition in history. From India, four teams are currently participating in the Asia Pacific semi-final, held in Bangkok. Out of the upcoming process, 32 teams would be filtered and then sent forth to the world final, said to be held in Sweden in May.
