Volvo Buses India Merged with Volvo India Pvt. Ltd.

With effect from 31st December, the Volvo Group has merged its Indian bus operations with Volvo India Pvt. Ltd. As a result, the Bangalore headquartered Volvo India will now hold all the manufacturing and business fields. According a statement from the company: “Volvo Buses will continue to be responsible for its brand, market and business operations while leveraging the tremendous synergies and strength of the joint company.”

Kamal Bali, Managing Director of Volvo India, commented, “Given the circumstances, it is quite natural for all businesses and brands of the group to be part of a unified legal organization in order to harness synergies, competencies, create greater efficiencies and responsiveness at the back-end, leading to better customer experience.” He also added, “Volvo buses would continue to play a major role in making transportation safer and sustainable in the market.”

The Volvo Group currently has three advanced manufacturing houses in Bangalore. Of them, the Volvo Trucks facility and Volvo & UD Bus factory are in Hoskote, while the Volvo & SDLG Construction Equipment factory is in Peenya Industrial Area. Volvo Buses India is presently leading the luxury inter-city coach and low floor air-conditioned city bus segments. The firm is also engaged in selling low floor diesel buses (A/C) in the country.
