VE Commercial Vehicles sells 5,637 units in May 2022

Greater demand for light and medium trucks in the domestic market helped the firm to gain higher volume in the month.

Volvo Eicher Commercial Vehicles, a Volvo Group and Eicher Motors joint venture recorded sales of 5,637 units in May 2022 as compared to 1,223 units in May 2021 registering a growth of 360.9%. This includes units of Eicher brand and 133 units of Volvo brand of trucks and buses.

In the month, a total of 5,504 units of Eicher branded trucks and buses were sold as compared to 1,175 units in May 2021 representing a growth of 368.4%. This massive growth is largely due to the lower base last year as Covid related lockdowns disrupted manufacturing and retail operations.  

In the domestic CV market, Eicher branded trucks & buses have recorded sales of 5,033 units in May 2022 as compared to 656 units in May 2021, representing a growth of 667.2%. While on the exports front, Eicher branded trucks & buses shipped 471 units in a month against 519 in the same period last year, down 9.2%. Volvo Trucks and Volvo Buses have recorded sales of 133 units in May 2022 as compared to 48 units in May 2021, registering a growth of 177.1%.
