The joint venture between Volvo Group and Eicher Motors sold 6,083 units in September 2017, compared to 4,843 units in September 2016.
VE Commercial Vehicles Ltd (VECVL), a joint venture between the Swedish Volvo Group and the Indian Eicher Motors, has witnessed a substantial rise in sales trends in the month of September 2017. Collectively, the company sold 6,083 units as compared to the 4,843 units sold in the same month last year, recording a growth of 25.6 per cent.
Out of the 6,083 units sold, Eicher sold 5,934 units, while 149 of units were clocked by Volvo. In the domestic CV market, Eicher Motors sold 5,084 units which took the year-to-date (YTD) figure to 22,529. The sales during the same month last year was 4,418 units, with last-year-to-date (LYTD) figure at 24,864. Although the LYTD figure is higher than the YTD, the company has shown a 22.6 per cent growth in September 2017 over the same month in 2016.
Even in the exports quota, Eicher Motors clocked a growth of 45.1 per cent in September 2017 over the same month last year by selling 850 units, compared to the 586 sold last year. However, the YTD for this year, which is 3,743, is still behind the LYTD figure of last year, which was 4,199.
However, this isn’t the case for the other partner in VECVL joint venture. As mentioned above, the 149 unit sales for September this year showcase a 36.7 per cent growth over the 109 units sold during the same month in 2016. Even the YTD figure, which is 324, is 5.5 per cent higher than the 307 LYTD one.
The joint venture between the two CV giants was formed in July 2008. VECVL has a complete range of Eicher brand buses and trucks, VE powertrains, Eicher components businesses as well as the sales and distribution business of Volvo trucks in India.
