UK based Penfold Driveways places order with Mercedes-Benz for a 625hp Arocs tipper

Penfold Driveways, a leading driveway project firm in the United Kingdom, has reportedly ordered a new truck from Mercedes-Benz. The model, Arocs 3263 tipper comes with a 15.6-litre engine that generates 625hp of power. The robust model finds its ideal place in construction related applications. It was delivered by Mercedes-Benz's local dealer for the region, Sparshatts of Kent. It had been equipped with a high-sided Thompson Loadmaster steel tipping body, along with an Epsilon M135L HPLS radio remote-controlled crane with grab. Along with this model, Penfold Driveways had also placed an order for a a 6×2 Arocs 2551, which is due to be delivered in the months of October. This model is to come with a 12.8-litre engine, and a rear-steer axle, which would subsequently be fitted with special tar-spraying body.
The UK based company undertakes projects of road construction, which include laying of hot tar and bonded gravel driveways and roadway. Recently, the brand had also launched a new road marketing service. The firm was founded 35 years ago by Victor Penfold.
“We’ve run Mercedes-Benz trucks in the past and have had no problems with them, so it made sense to stick with what we know.” commented Victor Penfold’s son Matthew, a director in the company's board.
The Arocs is the firm's first vehicle that aligns with Euro 6 standards.
“We’re very pleased with our new truck,” went on Matthew Penfold. “It clearly offers the strength and performance we need – we went for the biggest engine to ensure that it’s ‘man enough’ to work with our fully loaded drawbar trailer. I’ve driven the Arocs myself and was very impressed, particularly with the auto transmission, which is extremely smooth – not having to change gear makes life at the wheel so much easier.”
After being delivered, the vehicle was stored at a workshop for inspection and maintenance.
Mr Penfold added: “I’ve known the dealer’s truck sales executive Kevin Haynes for quite a few years now, and he was very helpful in liaising with the bodybuilder and crane manufacturer to ensure that the Arocs is exactly right for the job.”
