​Truckers Demand Toll Tax Scrapping

There is no denying the fact that toll booths located on highways eat major chunk of time, and many a times become the cause of traffic jams as well. The government has been looking for alternate ways of collecting toll tax with no success.

A major trucker’s body of India has now demanded that truckers be charged with one-time fee instead of all the toll taxes they have to pay every single time. The body even claims of a minister agreeing to do away with the toll disease. However, the body has not clarified name of the minister and nor have given any details about any talks with the authorities.

All Indian Motor Transport Congress has also been trying to push the same demand for a couple of years. The demand has come at a time when the Government is trying to resume toll collection amidst the demonetisation scheme.

The government, many a times has clarified that there is no way of even thinking about scrapping the toll taxes. However, it is open and working on alternate methods to make toll tax transactions smoother and less time consuming.
