Tough Competition for Truck Portals as Nilekani, Accel Partners-backed Truck Network Starts Operations
Published On Jun 02, 2016
With several online platforms catering to the unorganised and highly fragmented road transportation today, the trucking world in India is going digital at a happy pace. Adding to the bandwagon is a new startup 4TiGO, backed by strong investors such as Nandan Nilekani and Accel Partners. The startup aims bring all stakeholders on one common platform, thus helping optimize goods transportation nationally. 4TiGO has recently started operating in six Indian states.
4TiGO co-founder Anjani Mandal says that the company has combined 14 different streams of technology “to create an intuitive user-interface so that a truck driver, anywhere in India, can find a load, close the deal and be on his way, all within three clicks.”
Apart from catering to the needs of trucks drivers on the move, the cloud based technology platform helps provide relevant business services to consignors, consignees, fleet owners, transport companies and agencies. Through this portal, all of these stakeholders can easily exchange information, transact and manage their entire business.
The startup has partnered with Federal Bank for an effective e-payment platform and has also collaborated with Indian Oil Corporation Ltd. (IOCL) for a strategic partnership. IOCL will be offering complimentary parking, overnight stay, breakdown assistance and more in its 800 retail outlets to participating entities.
With this new entrant, other online platforms such as TruckSuvidha, Truckola, BlackBuck, ProFreights and others face tough competition in an already crowded market. However, since digitization in this industry is still blossoming, portals such as 4TiGO will only help the trucking fraternity embrace these emerging virtual assistants.
