Tata Xenon ‘Yodha’ Launch Early Next Year by Akshay Kumar
Published On Dec 30, 2016
Not even a week has passed since Tata Motors had announced Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar as their brand ambassador for the commercial vehicles wing, and Tata has already started making news again. India's CV leader, this time, is preparing for the grand launch of Tata Xenon Yodha to be held on January 3, 2016.
The launch event may look standard at first thought, but Tata will definitely try to make the first CV launch of the year as grand as it can be. Tata Motors has planned to involve Akshay Kumar in the event, or must we say that the event in a whole may be part of Tata's strategy of highlighting its tie up with Bollywood’s Khiladi. This may not only be the first commercial vehicle launch of the year but might just be the first one across all the automobile segments.
It is rumoured that Tata Xenon Yodha, scheduled to be launched on January 3, 2017, will be powered by the same 2.2-litre VARICOR diesel engine found in Safari Storme. Tata Motors will launch two variants of the new pickup - 147 bhp/320 Nm mated to five-speed manual and a more powered 154 bhp/400 Nm mated to six-speed manual gearbox. Pickup enthusiasts will also be able to choose a four wheel drive option.
The new Yodha version of the Xenon may directly compete against the Isuzu D-Max V-Cross. Tata Motors may also offer an infotainment unit with the top trim. New design bumpers, changed front grille, retouched interiors and better quality materials may be some of the changes in the new pickup variant.
Tata Xenon has been in the Indian market for over a decade now, but has failed miserably in winning consumers. But the Indian Army and BSF picking up Tata Xenon for use may just inspire people to consider the vehicle once again. Not to forget, the X factor that Khiladi Kumar will add to the overall appeal of Tata Xenon Yodha.
