The pickup segment in the small commercial vehicles is among the rapidly growing category in the overall trucks market. Over the last few years, OEMs are not just offering pickup for the cargo needs, but also addressing niche and life-style categories by introducing special range. The niche segment of pickups isn’t high in the volumes as compared to the conventional cargo category, yet, there is growing interest among Indian customers to use a pickup both for personal and business needs. Key pickup makers such as Mahindra & Mahindra, Tata Motors and Isuzu Motors, besides the regular cargo variants, also offers a product for niche applications with premium and modern features.   

Tata Motors has the most comprehensive pickup range in its SCV portfolio, starting from the 207, Xenon, Winger and the flagship Yodha.  While Yodha comes with five different variants covering all applications, Xenon pickups are around for a while with established track-record. The Xenon Utility range of pickups is available with two engine options - the 3L & 2.2L. The 3L engine comes with AC & Non-AC crew cabin models that are suitable for all customer requirements. The Xenon crew cabin is identified with its SUV like look, tall stance and rugged looks. Tata Motors has given this pickup an impressive performance with high power output to make it the most suitable vehicle in its segment.

Tata Xenon crew cabins are the ideal solution for several commercial usages like Agri produce, fisheries, milk, cash van, construction, service support, forest, government departments & other captive usages. The multipurpose pick up is used for the movement of goods as well as crew for all kinds of terrain and applications in urban, semi and even off-road. The Tata Xenon crew cabin with the 2.2L engine is a more refined version and has 4x2 and 4x4 models available with high trims to meet customer expectations.

Key Features

Let’s look at some of the vital features offered on the Xenon Utility range of pickups. At the heart of this pick up is smarter 3.0 I Dicor turbocharged engine equipped with peak power of 85 kw @3000 and torque of 250 Nm @ 1000-2000 r/min.

 

Tata Motors has given a modern look to this pickup with body color on the front bumper, chrome grill finisher, motorised headlamp, wheel caps as standard, stylised load body. This comes with fair amount of safety features including collapsible steering column, door intrusion beams, motorised headlamp adjustment, disc brakes, tubeless tyres, provision for fog lamps. Importantly, the comfort isn’t compromised as the vehicle comes with comfy bucket seats with headrest and lumbar support, power steering, adjustable column and mobile charging point.

This utility range gets a payload capacity of one ton, complemented by large loading deck and all steel stylish load body, along with limited-slip differential, which helps in comfortable support in rough terrain.
