Tata Xenon to Launch Facelifted Version Early Next Year

Published On Nov 17, 2016By Lisa Pradhan

Pickup truck enthusiasts in India are in for a delight as Tata Xenon, the stylish pickup from Tata Motors will be launched in an upgraded version very soon. It has been rumoured that the facelifted Xenon will be unveiled early next year.

The testing of the new version has already started and the vehicle has been spotted on Indian roads. The new version does not get sizable changes in exteriors except a revised front bumper, new front grille and body-coloured slat.

However, the powertrain will be undergoing some major changes, with upgrades in power and torque from the current 150 bhp and 300 Nm to 154 bhp and 400 Nm, respectively. The 2.2-litre diesel motor engine will not undergo any modification and will remain the same.

Sources also say that customers will have the option of buying the upgraded version with the new six-speed automatic gearbox, the same that has been used in the upcoming Tata Hexa.

It is said that the single cab variant will be introduced first with a price tag of INR 8 lakh. Currently, the Xenon 4x2 is priced at INR 9.92 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) and the Xenon 4x4 is priced at INR 11 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).

It is believed that Tata Xenon has taken this move as it is currently facing a tough competition in the luxury pickup segment from Isuzu D-Max V-Cross. The new version, assumed to be launched in January 2017, will not only stand up to the latter but also to the yet to be launched upgraded Mahindra Scorpio Getaway.
