In an attempt to reach the remote markets of India, leading commercial vehicle maker Tata Motors has turned to sports. The company paired up with Pro Kabaddi’s U-Mumba (Mumbai) team in Season 4 to reach out the masses. As Kabaddi quite popular in India and Pro Kabaddi is the second most watched sport across the country, Tata is trying to leverage its presence through the sport.
Commenting on the association, Mr Anurag Dubey, Business Head- SCV, LCVs and Pickups, Commercial Vehicle Business, Tata Motors, said, “We are very happy to associate with team U Mumba, for yet another exciting season of Pro Kabaddi. This is a sport that has long been associated with strength and endurance similar to the attributes of the Tata Xenon. Kabaddi is also well followed in the interiors of the country and we would like to associate with the sport to engage with our audience to further strengthen the Xenon’s presence. We wish all the players the very best for this season and look forward to many more such successful associations.”
Both U-Mumba and Tata Xenon pick-up reiterate the same values, i.e. tough, rugged, consistent performance, and zeal to overcome obstacles & win. While U-Mumba won the second season of Pro Kabaddi League, Tata Xenon has been the sole flag bearer for the company in pick-up segment. There are five variants of Xenon available which provide best-in-class performance, decent payload and comfortable interiors for drivers.
Under its Neev initiative which started back in 2010, Tata Motors is looking to penetrate remote and rural areas and the same is expected from this deal.
