Tata Signa – The All New Truck Range
Published On Feb 25, 2016
Tata has always been a pioneer in the Indian commercial vehicle industry with continuous effort in producing new and viable products according to the market demand. The latest product range from Tata has been launched at the Auto Expo 2016 and is named as Signa.
The company officials claim that by launching the Signa range of M&HCVs that include trailers, and construction & mining vehicles, Tata has taken a game-changing step in the current market. The highlight of Signa range is the availability of products for different applications, newly designed cabin for extra ride comfort, aerodynamic structure and in-built telematics system called Tata Fleetman for keeping an eye on the truck’s performance and health.
Here’s the brief information about Signa range trucks:
Meant to be used as a tractor-trailer, Signa 4923.S is a truck with a heavy load carrying capacity of 49,000 kg. Powered by Tata’s favorite Cummins ISBe 5.9 Litre Common Rail engine, it produces decent power output of 227.5 hp @ 2,500 rpm and handy torque of 850 Nm @ 1,400 - 1,700 rpm. Made available in different fully built body options, it could be a good solution for many applications apart from carrying containers. Its two 300 litre fuel tanks also make it a perfect companion for long trips across the country.
Labeled as India’s first Multi Axle Vehicle (MAV) Signa 3118.T is an all season truck fit for any application or load. With GVW touching a decent 31,000 kg mark, the vehicle’s Cummins ISBe 5.9 litre Common Rail engine backs it up with 180 hp power @ 2,500 rpm and a maximum torque of 685 Nm @ 1,400-1,600 rpm. Coupled with both steerable and lift axles, Tata Signa 3118.T surely enhances the ride quality and weight balancing on rugged terrains. And, along with a 400 litre fuel tank, the truck could cover up decent distance without refueling stopovers.
With construction and mining sector always being checked for a potential business opportunity among truck buyers, Tata has come up with a perfect truck named as Signa 2518.K for the same purposes. Backed up by the Cummins ISBe 5.9 Litre Common Rail engine, it churns out same power and torque outputs as Signa 3118.T, that is 180 hp power @ 2,500 rpm and 685 Nm torque @ 1,400-1,600 rpm. Capable of carrying a Gross Vehicle Weight up to 25,000 kg, this truck is a pretty good option for tougher mining and construction sites.
Tata defines this all new Signa range as a complete solution for all the trucking needs ranging from construction to FMCG, mining to machine parts, and more. The company has also chosen its most reliable motor to pump up these trucks, that is Cummins ISBe 5.9 Litre, known for outrageous performance irrespective of the terrain. However, Tata’s sales have witnessed more dip than hike in recent times but it seems like that the company has acknowledged the fact and has started covering up the bases.
