Tata Motors Starts Second Batch of T1 Racer Program

You know that the Tata Motors T1 Prima Truck Racing Championship is around the corner when Tata starts prepping up for the mega event. Tata Motors has already announced the second batch of its truck driver selection and racing program, and with over 1000 applications already, this year’s event promises to be bigger, better and meaner. The second phase of the selection and training program (TRP 2.0), will finally filter out a handful of highly trained truck drivers who will be sharing track space with renowned international truck racers in the Season IV of the T1 Prima Truck Racing Championship 2017.

The coveted event, which takes place in the Buddh International Circuit (BIC) F1 race track, has included separate races for Indian truck drivers since the last year. The TRP has been designed innovatively to impart formal and rigorous training to truck drivers who previously did not have any exposure to driving on a track. The training also includes those drivers who do not have hands-on experience on a Prima truck before and lack formal education.

The course has been designed by the MOMA Motorsport Management which consists of four levels of training and elimination. The country’s first and only Truck Racing Program, the training this year, like in 2016, will comprise of 17 semifinalists who will be trained to become world class truck racers by renowned Indian and international instructors.

The T1 Prima Truck Racing Championship 2016 saw two different categories for the first time, the Super Class (comprising of Indian truck drivers) and the Pro Class (comprising of international truck drivers). The customized Prima trucks zooming across the racing track captivated trucking enthusiasts. The event also witnessed celebrity performances that kept the audience enthralled and entertained.
