Tata Motors offers Ace Gold petrol a compelling product to SCV buyers

The market leader recognizes the need for a petrol vehicle in the SCV segment, as the customer is looking to optimize operating costs to earn a better return on his vehicles. Ace Petrol poised to make a strong mark in the market as the industry is ready for the BSVI regime.

In less than two months, India will become part of the few countries in the world to adopt the stringent BSVI emission norms. This vital transition is likely to bring several changes in commercial vehicles. The way the customer looks at his truck will see a dramatic change as trucks are going to become more expensive. To address the concern of higher prices, the customer intends to off-set the cost, by primarily increasing the earning potential of the vehicles as well as reducing the total cost of ownership (TCO).   

Tata Motors is doing just that by attempting to enhance the value of its vehicles, thus ensuring the customer earns more with his/her BSVI vehicle.  A large part of the operating cost, about 32% to 37%, in the CV scope is fuel and a compelling fuel proposal will be the real game changer. Tata Motors believes a petrol version of SCV makes a convincing bet.  

Explaining the company's strategy to Trucksdekho, Vinay Pathak, Vice-President and Product Line Head, Small Commercial Vehicle, Tata Motors said, "One of the key changes we are expecting is the Ace portfolio where today 97 percent of vehicles have  diesel engines and remaining have CNG. With BSVI technology, the prices of diesel vehicles will go up considerably, and therefore, alternate fuel vehicles like petrol will be far more economical to own and run for the customers. This is the reason why we have introduced Ace petrol."

Seeing an opportunity and gap in its product offering, Tata Motors decided to get a petrol Ace compact-truck to its customers and this is in addition to the existing diesel and CNG variants already available in its portfolio. The company unveiled its new petrol Ace during Auto Expo 2020.

The Ace Gold Petrol gets the powerful Tata 275 gasoline MPFI BSVI, 4 Stroke Water-cooled engine delivering maximum power of 22 Kw (30 PS) @ 4000 rpm and torque of 55 Nm @ 2500-3000 rpm. Ace Gold offers a payload of 750kg and a large lockable glove box along with USB Charger. Also, the gear shift advisor, digital display cluster and eco switch for high fuel efficiency are key features provided to customers. Besides this to ensure a peaceful experience of running the vehicle, Tata Motors is offering 2 years or 72,000 km of warranty to its customers.

Ace petrol is likely to create excitement amongst first time buyers and fleet owners who are looking for alternate fuel options and better operating performances. Tata Motors is confident that Ace Petrol is apt for inter and intra-city applications such as distribution of consumer products, water bottles, gas cylinders, FMCG and dairy products, etc
