Tata Motors’ Commercial Vehicle Sales Rise by 20 percent for January 2016

India's largest automobile manufacturer witnessed continuous growth in year to year unit sales. Recording a 30 percent hike in medium and heavy commercial vehicles (M&HCVs), the leading manufacturer sold 47,034 vehicles in Commercial and Passenger vehicle segment, which is 10% higher than 42,595 vehicle sold last year. For the month of January, Tata Motors’ domestic sales for commercial and passenger vehicles stood at 41,398 units, thus displaying a growth by 7 percent over previous year which sold over 38,634 units.
The sales of M&HCVs in commercial vehicles sector rose to 14693 units in January 2016, while the small commercial vehicle sales stood at 15977 units. Overall domestic sales of Tata Motors noted a significant increase recording 30,670 units in January 2016, which is 20 percent higher from 25,587 units in January 2015. Tata Motors claimed that the growth in sales comes on the back of growth in LCV business and increasing M&HCV sales.
The aggregated domestic sales of the commercial vehicles for the year stood at 258,325 units which are lowered by 1 percent in comparison with last year. LCV cumulative sales this year recorded a decline of 15 percent with 134,774 units and the M&HCV sales registered 23 percent hike over previous year with 1,23,551 unit sales.
Passenger vehicles of Tata Motors saw a decline of 18 percent with 10,728 units in January 2016 from 13,047 units in 2015. The automobile company exported 46,536 vehicles this year which is 15 percent higher than 40,587 units exported the previous year.
