Scania Initiates 6th Edition of Driver Competition in Australia

Swedish truck manufacturing giant, Scania, has initiated the Scania Driver Competitions in Australia for 2016. This is the sixth edition to be conducted by Scania and it is reported to have prizes worth thousands of dollars. Initial stage of the competition will be a knowledge based online challenger round, where drivers will compete with each other to qualify for the finals. The company has said that the national finals will be held by the end of October in Melbourne.
Scania Australia has been conducting these competitions since the year 2007 to finding best truck and bus drivers in the country.
“The Scania Driver Competitions have become a global opportunity for truck drivers to demonstrate their expertise, knowledge and professionalism,” said Mr. Roger McCarthy, Scania Australia’s Managing Director. McCarthy also echoed the company’s belief that the driver is the transport operator’s single most important asset in delivering Total Operating Economy. He also said that the transport industry faces multiple challenges and opportunities as the society continues to look for demonstrable improvements in road safety from the road transport industry. “Reductions in fuel usage, however small, reduce emissions and deliver lower operating costs. Lower costs in turn increase transport operators’ profitability and provide the opportunity to grow their business. Drivers play a pivotal role in each of these areas,” McCarthy added.
Scania intends to improve the road transport industry by enhancing the profile of professional truck and bus drivers. Any driver with a valid MC license can participate in the Scania Driver Competition. The competition is a perfect platform of all Australian drivers to show-off their driving skills.
