The T1 Prima Truck Racing Championship is going to be held tomorrow at the Buddh International Circuit. For the first time ever, the gala event will be covering two categories: the Super Class consisting of Indian truck drivers, and the Pro Class consisting of international truck drivers.
Let’s have a look at the six teams comprising the Pro Class category:
Castrol Vecton: With impressive backgrounds in trucking, Matt Summerfield, a 2015 BTRA Division 1 Champion known for his smooth and consistent driving style and Adam Bint, a regular on the BTRA truck racing scene since several years are sure to give tough competition to the other teams.
Cummins: Holding the fort in this team will be Richart Collett and Graham Powell. Richard co-owns Collett Transport, the UK’s leading heavy haulage company and has been active in the truck racing arena since the last 18 years. Graham has an impressive background in truck racing and will be competing in the Tata T1 Championship for the third time.
Dealer Daredevils: Ray Coleman and Simon Cole will be driving the trucks to glory in this team. Operator of one of the biggest fleets of heavy recovery vehicles in the UK, Ray has been a regular participant in the fiercely contested Division One category of the BTRA Championship since the past two seasons. Simon has been racing since he was a teenager and has been in bicycle and motorcycle racing before.
Dealer Warriors: This team will be defending its turf with Ben Horne and Paul McCumisky. Born with a racing DNA, Ben has been racing with his father since childhood and has won the second place in BTRA Division 1 held in 2010. Paul is a 2003 BTRA Division 2 Champion and has been successfully racing trucks since 1986.
Tata Technologies Motorsports: Truck racing talents David Jenkins and Brian Burt will be joining hands in this team for a fiery action. David is a 2011 BTRA Division 1 Champion and a truck racer since 1997. Brian has been racing trucks since the past 11 years, competing successfully in both the British and French Championships.
Tata Motors Finance: Taking this team forward will be Oly Janes and Tony Smith. An avid kart racer since 1999, Oly moved into truck racing in 2010 in Division 2 in his Scania and in 2013 moved up to Division 1 racing his Freightliner. Tony was a newcomer to the BTRA Championship in 2015 and made his truck race debut at Pembrey in May 2015.
Such an imposing line-up of trucking talent behind the wheels of the magnificent Prima will be a visual feast for the audience. The Buddh International Circuit tomorrow will surely stand witness to a grand, fist-clenching and nail-biting race that will be etched in the memories of the crowd forever.
