The 2820 6x2 is a powerful 28T GVW truck that is offered with a choice of iGen6 series engines tailor-made for the customer’s cargo and different operating needs. This proven iEGR technology continues with the new BS6 engine that is efficiently tuned to higher power and torque with a flat torque curve for greater mileage.
Ashok Leyland trucks are familiar with a strong look and higher performance, the same DNA continues with the new generations’ trucks. To prove the performance, the aggregates are the most crucial. Hence, like its other products from the firm's portfolio, 2820 now comes with most modern and contemporary aggregates.
Unlike the earlier generation vehicle, 2820 get the more powerful 200HP, refined H series 6-cylinder BS6 engine with maximum torque of 700 Nm. It is fitted with enhanced 6-speed synchromesh – 3 options and 8-speed synchromesh and 380 mm dia - single dry plate, organic clutch with an air-assisted hydraulic booster.
Interestingly, domestic OEMs had 180HP engines for this same truck, which was quite popular among truckers, but as the market evolves, with growing average daily speed, higher cargo capacities, OEMs moved to slightly higher power engines. This is an encouraging truck for trucks to become more efficient and productive.
Considering the long-distance applications carrying bulk and heavy cargo, 2820 gets modern axles combination, the rear axle is Fully floating single speed rear axle with an option of 5.29 / 5.57 / 6.17:1 along with unitized wheel bearings. While the front axle is forged I section – reverse elliot type Optional in both unitized wheel bearing or anti-roll bar.
The suspensions are equally vital for higher performance, the front suspensions are semi-elliptic-multi leaf and the parabolic springs are optional while in the rear non-reactive suspension and slipper ended suspension optional. The brakes are Full air dual line with ABS and auto exhaust brake
Load body options
New 2820 comes with cargo body options of 20 ft, 22 ft, 24ft, 26ft, 28ft, 30 ft and 32 ft. The wheelbase is 4700 mm, 5050 mm, 5450mm, 6000mm, 6300 mm and 6600 mm.
The overall length of 8510 mm, 9110 mm, 9710mm, 10360 mm, 10960 mm, 11560, 11960mm, the overall width is 2750 mm across the cargo body options. Providing a choice to customers on selecting the cabin, 2820 comes in an economy cowl, economy cabin, value cabin and premium cabin and AC option on both cabins. The truck comes in cowl & chassis, cabin & chassis and full side deck and high side deck options.
This new 2820 haulage truck is pitched for a variety of applications such as market load, tanker, parcel, LPG cylinders and reefer among others.
