Piaggio Vehicles eyes rural markets, partners with CSC

To penetrate deeper into the hinterlands, the firm joins hands with the government arm to reach over 4.5 lakh village-level entrepreneurs, across India.
Looking to grow beyond the traditional urban, semi-urban and rural India, auto brands now trying to reach the deeper areas of our vast country. There seems a lot of untabbed potential with new customers waiting to start their automobile journey. And to leverage this market, Piaggio Vehicles, India’s leading manufacturer of small commercial vehicles announced a partnership with Common Service Centres (CSC) Special Purpose Vehicle to expand its three-wheeler business network through Village Level Entrepreneurs (VLE).
CSC scheme is one of the mission mode projects under the Digital India Programme initiated by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, Government of India. It is a self-sustaining network of approx. 4.5 lakh Common Service Centres in Gram Panchayats across the country. Under the aegis of this partnership, the customers can now be facilitated for all information and purchase enquiries related to Piaggio vehicles portfolio by their nearest Common Service Centres.

Piaggio Ape's range of cargo and passenger three-wheeler is highly popular among Indian customers. Piaggio Ape is available in petrol, diesel, and CNG engines such as the Ape City, Ape Xtra LDX, Ape Auto DX, etc. The company also introduced the new full-electric, battery-operated rickshaw that is highly practical to use and affordable to own and operate. This includes the Ape E City and Ape E Xtra.
