Piaggio Porter 700 LCV launched at INR 3.18 lakh

The model has been introduced between the 600 and 1000 models of the Porter LCV range.

Adding to its light commercial vehicle (LCV) model range, Piaggio Vehicles Pvt Ltd (PVPL), a 100 per cent subsidiary of Italian auto major Piaggio Group has launched the the Porter 700 in India. It has been priced at Rs 3.18 lakh (ex-showroom, Maharashtra) and is available only in one trim. PVPL has placed it between the Porter 600 and Porter 1000 LCVs.

The LCV is powered by a 652cc, single-cylinder diesel motor that produces 14.75 bhp and 4.07 kgm. Power is transmitted to the rear wheels via a 5-speed manual gearbox. In terms of mileage, Piaggio claims the Porter 700 is capable of returning 26kmpl. Other standout features include a class-leading ground clearance of 218mm and a payload capacity of 700kgs, thanks to a 30 sq. ft. cargo deck.

Commenting at the launch event, Ravi Chopra, chairman of PVPL, said, “Piaggio would continue to provide technological solutions in the last mile transportation market and would focus on further strengthening & dominating this category particularly the last mile transportation cargo market. It is the first model that has been launched in India after an upper management change. Piaggio is offering the Porter 700 with 2 years and 75,000km extended warranty. While the first year of warranty will be covered by the company, the next one year will be covered by an authorized third party. Also, the company will give first four services free of cost.
