The popular cargo variant of Piaggio 3W is now available in the BS6 version. How good is this new offering? We find out.

What’s new? 

The new BS6 Ape cargo gets the 599 CC diesel engine which is a higher power that is predecessor as it had 435 CC. This extra power in the engines now enables this 3W to carry higher cargo with fasters speed. It comes with 5+1 gearbox enabling driving without fatigue, and higher speed at lower RPM. Piaggio says the Ape cargo BS6 has got a powerful engine, durable aluminum clutch, higher power & torque, and lower maintenance. 

This tiny little vehicle promises greater performance, built for the captive use of any business as well as individual transporter for their last-mile duties. Considering the stringent and rigorous operating conditions, the Ape Xtra LDX engine gives higher torque which is useful in climbing flyovers in a city or even stepper rural roads. Equally important is the superior ground clearance, which helps in smooth drive even on rough and uneven rural roads.

The 599 CC single-cylinder water-cooled engine produces 9.4 HP of power at higher torque of 23.5 Nm. This new engine is developed for better load-carrying abilities and overall unmatched performance on the last-mile delivery needs. This is complemented with the higher speed with instant pick up a necessary character of such 3W. Its GVW is 975 kg and the payload of approximately 510-520 kg, which is reasonable for small transporters' needs.

 Piaggio promises lower maintenance costs for this popular cargo 3W with the aim of more profits to its owners. Piaggio also makes it convenient for the customer by offering the Ape LDX in any customized delivery or container body for precise business requirements. Moreover, The Ape Xtra now comes with two cargo bodies options of 5ft (L-1480 W-1400 H-285/mm) and 5.5 ft (L-1480 W-1600 H-285/mm) for larger cargo volumes. 

Clearly, the higher power engine with better torque and instant pickup makes this popular 3W even more efficient for their delivery needs with far lower tail-pipe emission with all new BS6 engine.
