The German commercial vehicle maker has appointed Markus Geyer as MD for the MAN Truck and Bus division of Africa and Sub-Equatorial region. Geyer will acquire the responsibilities from Geoff du Plessis in the former quarter of 2016. Geoff du Plessis, the former MD of MAN Truck and Bus left the company in December last year.
Geyer formerly held the position of Regional Head of Middle East and Africa for five years. Recently, he managed 22 countries in Sub-equatorial Africa and is well known in African market. From 2004, he was one of the board of directors of MAN Truck and Bus SA.
As told by the company, Geyer's experience in the local business market and strong consumer relationships will be benign for the consumers. Munich headquarters is an auxiliary support to Geyer for his extensive knowledge of processes of the company.
He is expected to take up the responsibility and the chair at the earliest in this year. However, Visa and Permit requirements hold a greater hand in making this happen.
Heinz-Jurgen Low, Board Member of Sales and Marketing quoted that "Markus has my full support and the supervisory board of MAN Truck and Bus wish him the best of success in his new role in SA, a country he is very familiar with.”
