Published On May 03, 2016
Mercedes Benz, a division of world's largest truck maker Daimler AG, has celebrated the 20th anniversary of its flagship truck range Actros at Truckfest 2016 in Perterborough. The German truck maker also displayed a fleet of its modern and historic vehicle at the recently concluded event.
Introduced in the year 1996, the Mercedes Benz Actros proved to be the most successful truck model for Daimler AG, which created a storm across the commercial vehicle industries. It was the first truck in the segment to come with disc brakes on all axles. In addition to this, it also featured an advanced Electro-Pneumatic Braking (EPB) system, a feature that took safety standards to the next level. Today, Mercedes Actros features some ground-breaking features including the Active Brake Assist 3. This feature is integrated with a stage-based warning system that assists the driver by detecting possible accident hazards and thus reduces the vehicle's speed automatically.
At Truckfest 2016, the company displayed the first generation Actros truck and it was accompanied by three other trucks including 2563 GigaSpace, a 2006 1861 Black Edition truck and a 2010 2455 MegaSpace truck. These trucks were joined by other popular Mercedes Benz trucks including Arocs 4158 used by Neil Yates Recovery (The Beast), a SK 1834 Euroliner and MY1971 LP 1418 truck.
In total the company has displayed 15 other truck models at the 2016 Truckfest among which, Mercedes-Benz Econic 8x4 tipper and an Actros Tractor unit are the ones that grabbed all the attention. These are the trucks with advanced safety features, designed for urban environments. Apart from showcasing trucks at the event, Mercedes Benz also organized some extracurricular activities including face painting, craft activities and other entertainment programs.
